Adapting a Smart Car motor to a T90 transmission.

This guy can do it all: creative thinking; home foundry work; machining. He's entertaining to boot.? Since there are few Smart Car electric vehicles in N. America, would a motor from a Nissan Leaf be a better candidate?

Thanks for the link, Pavel. Certainly an interesting project by a clever fellow. :o)

The motor he's using is a Bosch SMG 180/120, which has been used in several electric cars, not just the Smart Car. Shouldn't be hard to find one used. Further on in the series he shows how he used a second-generation Prius inverter and an Open Inverter Project board to control the motor:

I like the pluralism of modernity; it doesn't threaten me or my
faith. And if one's faith is dependent on being reinforced in
every aspect of other people's lives, then it is a rather
insecure faith, don't you think? (Andrew Sullivan)

I read the Bosch motor is a little less than 50hp that should push the jeep along fine unless you want highway speeds.? The Nissan Leaf motor is about 150hp and there is likely to be plenty of Leaf components available too, probably at a good price.? The whole electric conversion idea is enticing except for the battery question.
