Plastic fuel tank for Willys Wagon

A while back, there was a posting on this site about a source for a
plastic fuel tank for Willys Wagons. I bought one from MTS Co., out
of Dubuque, Iowa. It is a rugged tank. The walls are at least a
quarter inch thick. It even comes with the necessary mounting straps
and bracketry. The fit appears to be perfect.

The down side of this tank is that it has no internal baffle.
Nothing to ebb the sloshing of fuel. I contacted the manufacturer
about my concerns, and got a quick rebuttle/question. He asked me to
name any original equipment tank that had baffeling. Well, just off
the top, I can vouch that my CJ2A tank had a big baffle (partial
wall) right down the middle. I assumed that all vehicle tanks used an
internal baffle.

I was just wondering if any of you have used the plastic tank from
MTS Co.,(or any other manufacturer, for that matter), and if the lack
of a baffle caused any problems? Seems to me that the sloshing could
excessively batter the sending unit, and may even loosen the tank
mounts.

Also, the tank does not have a return fuel line, neccessary for some
engines. How did you provide a return line? What fitting did you
use? The manufacturer advises against drilling a hole in the tank for
a return fitting. Seems to me that a 1/4 inch wall could support a
fitting of some sort, without a problem?

Any help/comments/suggestions would be much appreciated.

The original tank on my 53 pickup has no baffle.
