48 CJ-2A parts from Whitney

I probably should have checked with the group before I made the order, but I
went ahead and took the plunge on an order of Jeep parts from J.C. Whitney. I
ordered the black rubber floor mat with matching rear cargo mat, a gas tank,
and a set of shocks.

The shocks alone represent a substantial savings - $7.99 each for lifetime
warranty (Monroe, I think), as opposed to $29.99 each from the local parts
houses. I'll let the group know how these parts work out.

Also, I ran into 'The Jeepster Man' at Hershey a couple of weeks ago. He has
excellent reprints of the parts books ($15) and owner's manuals ($10) for
older Jeeps. It would be hard to tell them from originals - glossy paper,
clear photos, and nice cardstock covers. He also has a lot of parts and
accessories.

replace after only one week..(pretty low grade)they were bent bad enough to
make steering difficultand I hadn't even gone offroad ! with those guys you

I too purchased a gas tank from ol J.C. and am relatively happy with it. I
will warn you though that it is Brazilian made. (Brazilian monkeys
possibly) :) Just be careful of the threading job on the outlet, it was
poorly done on mine, looked like it was done by a trained monkey on crack.
It was not straight and very shallow threads. It required some finagling
and even a few expletives to get hooked up. Good luck otherwise. Joseph
