Wayne Rhoten mentioned converting the club to one where people donating can write off the amount on their taxes. When this happens, I’d like to suggest looking into accepting stocks as donations. ? People like me prefer to donate stocks because frankly it’s money on paper that I’ll never miss. The beneficiary likes it because overtime the stocks go up in value, especially as donors tend to donate index funds. Another reason is people who donate stocks tend to donate a lot more. ? Anyways, just a thought. I don’t know if anyone has ever approached the club, wanting to make a stock donation. If there has been requests, I think it would be worth our while to do. When the club status does change, per my earlier comment, I can make my contribution by paying for the expenses to set up this account. ? Thanks. What Wayne suggested was that you could use a 401c(3) organization with a complementary purpose and provide funds from that 401c(3) to GVARC as a grant.? The donation to the 401c(3) would be deductible, and the 401c(3) would provide a grant to GVARC for a purpose within their scope. Wayne, correct me if I misunderstood.
