Power outage at Crystal Peak

 

Hi,

Just a heads up that power is out at Crystal Peak. The generator has also failed to start, so this means the UHF repeater is currently on back-up battery power. We do not really have a way to know for how long it will continue to operate as we have never conducted a full capacity test. But since we are no longer driving an amplifier, and the repeater itself is transmitting at relative low power with minimal usage, I believe we calculated a couple of days of uptime. I will report back when we hear more information regarding restoration of power.?

UPDATE

A team was able to get to the site and start the generator. So, the site is back on generator power, but there is still no ETR for restoring utility power. There is fuel on site for about 12 days. Typically the power is restored within a couple days.?

I receive these updates regularly, and power actually goes out at the site more often than you might imagine, but I do not always pass them along unless things escalate such as today when the generator failed and we were actually on our tertiary power (utility/genset/our own cabinet batteries). So unless we go back to a situation where the genset has failed again, or there is an extended issue that would push repairs beyond fuel reserves, I will post no further update.
