Dr. Skov just sent out a post announcing a G2 earth directed solar storm watch. The CME should arrive Sept 10th or early Sept 11th. G2 implies that short term blackouts are possible. ? On this same line, I have added an article to the Wiki folder called "Solar Activity & HF propagation: w/ a Flare of Solar Physics. cover all the components we should have a working knowledge of with getting too deep.
