Hello fellow hams, I am the committee chairman for the ARCPC/Parker County RACES application committee. Our County Fire Marshal Sean Hughes has provided us with some guidelines and updates for training requirements for Parker County RACES. These details are listed below: · A BACKGROUND CHECK IS REQUIRED. · FCC Technician License tenure of greater than 1 year - required. General or above preferred. · Amateur Radio Club of Parker County (W5PC) membership - required. Provide membership card. · Current yearly SKYWARN basic training certificate - required. · Provide ICS/NIMS Certificates for IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800; required prerequisite. · YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN ADDITIONAL TRAINING AND RACES ACTIVATIONS. · YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE WORKING AMATEUR RADIO EQUIPMENT CAPABLE OF USING 2m and 70cm AMATEUR FREQUENCIES. If you are interested in participating in Parker County RACES, we would encourage you to submit copies of your ICS training certificates and your current Skywarn certificate for review, at an upcoming Amateur Radio Club of Parker County meeting, that occurs on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 1900 hours at the Parker County EOC.
