No cell coverage; No radio reach; Have an iPhone - Send a text message via satellite on iPhone

On iPhone 14 models or later with iOS 18 or later, you can text friends and family via satellite when you¡¯re outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage (U.S. and Canada only). Messages via satellite is free for 2 years after activation.

Good to know.? Any idea what a plan may cost after the 2 years?

Thanks!

Guessing less than the $15/mo t-mobile will charge after their current free starlink beta expires in July. T-mobile and starlink are partnering, and claims any carrier, iphone, android and others are allowed on the beta test. T-mobile beta sign-up: . Starlink - cell towers in low-orbit.

I have a Google Pixel 9XLPro

The Google Pixel 9 Pro, and other Pixel 9 models, includes a satellite SOS feature that?allows users to contact emergency services via satellite when cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity is unavailable.?This feature is currently available in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and several European countries.?To use Satellite SOS, users need to make sure Google Messages is their default messaging app, dial 911, and follow the prompts to communicate with emergency responders.

Google has stated that the service will be free for the first two years after device activation.
