Re: Upcoming Event: ETECS Training Net - Mon, 03/30/2020
开云体育The current COVID-19 pandemic and government mandated social distancing has made all amateur radio activities that involve personal interaction a much lower priority than normal. Sure wish I had my 2m/70cm radio and hf station set up, so I could participate, but even after a few volunteers, still no station.Maybe I am not wanted.

Sure would like to get my station set back up, but am not able to do much of anything physical. I really, really miss not being on the air for hf and vhf/uhf. No one has the time I guess.

Re: [ARRLNTX] February 2020 NTX ARES Information Net
开云体育Doug,
?
I started listening to the NTX ARES Net on 3.860 MHz, at 8:30 PM CST and
checked into the net, after Net Control asked, for check-ins.? He commented
that I had a strong signal, into Dallas.
?
My antenna is an Inverted V, 80 Meter Double Bazooka.
?
My QTH is just west of West Lake Tyler and on top of a hill, so that helps
my signal.
?
Sorry, but I didn’t make a list of the check-ins, so I am not sure if I
heard you check-in, to the evening ARES Net.

Net ?
John,
what band conditions were you experiencing? Do you use your folded dipole for
this 75m work?
?
My fan dipole is parallel to and about 200’ away from a high tension line.
I think that a slow drizzle on that line raises my noise floor. We
certainly had drizzle...
?
I tried to check in about 10:40 and was not able to understand if I had
been heard.
It seemed to me that our band conditions deteriorated noticeably shortly
after the start of the net.
I’ll try again next week.
?
Again, I’d be interested to know what others in Tyler experienced.
?
73,
Doug. Wyman W5DKW
