*Weather ¨C current forecast looks good. In the event of inclement weather on 7 May, a cancellation call will be made no later than 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning via email.

*Participants are requested to bring a folding outdoor chair for themselves, if possible, for the post hunt festivities.

Who: Any interested person (you do not have to have an amateur radio license to participate). Without a license, you would be listening only.

What: Mobile Amateur Radio 2M Fox Hunt (147.555 MHz Simplex)

Why: Sharpen your radio direction finding skills and to have fun attempting to find the Fox!

How: Use your radio direction finding skills to locate the Fox transmitter.

The Fox will transmit for two minutes on the 15s, e.g., 2:00 p.m. - to 2:02 p.m., 2:15 p.m. ¨C 2:17 p.m., 2:30 p.m. ¨C 2:32 p.m., etc.

Clues to the Fox¡¯s location will be given during the transmissions. Beginning with the 4:00 p.m. transmission, clues will become increasingly more specific to the point of telling you where it is, so you can get to the Fox location and participate in the end-of-hunt festivities¡­light refreshments, telling of tall tales.

Interested participants are requested to pre-register as soon as possible via email to kb3sph@... with your name, call sign (if you have one), number of hunters in your team (if more than one), so we can get an idea of the number of participants.

Also, if you¡¯re an experienced fox hunter and are willing to have others ride along with you or conversely, if you¡¯re new to fox hunting and looking to team up with someone, let me know and we¡¯ll try to facilitate teaming.

Please check in between 1:45 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. on 7 May, the day of the hunt, to confirm your participation and so we know that you¡¯re on the hunt.? Check in via a text to 301-848-8043 or call via the Fox Admin repeater: W3SMR, 147.15 MHz (+), Tone 114.8 Hz.

During the hunt, The Fox - KB3SPH and The Vixen - KB3SWS will be monitoring the Fox Admin repeater and cell phone, 301-848-8043, to assist with any issues that may arise during the hunt.

Other: All interested/potential fox hunters are invited to attend a Fox Hunting presentation to be given at the Charles County Amateur Radio Club (CCARC) meeting on Friday, 5 May 2023 at 7:00 p.m.? The CCARC meeting location:

All are welcome, you do not have to be a member of CCARC to attend the meeting/presentation.? If you need antennas and HTs for the Fox Hunt, we will have a limited number at the 5 May CCARC meeting that you can borrow for the event.
