The CQ World-Wide DX contest is underway, and the bands seem to be hopping!! There was so much SSB traffic on 10 meters that my 100 watts wasn’t breaking through much so I switched to FT8 which is open into Europe on 10. Good luck and hope you get a chance to radio a little today!!

Re: POTA Activation Saturday

Edited

It went really well. We have 75 contacts across 3 different bands in a little over 2 hours of operation by the time we got everything set up and going. I’m uploading the log to the POTA site now. I’ve attached map of our QSO’s. Sierena got the Spain contact!! Wish you could have made it!!

We’re going to attempt a POTA activation Saturday at 3pm. Join us if you can at White Ranch, Trail 6. We’ll set up a couple radios and work under the club call sign, but will have to stay on different bands to prevent duplicates. We’ll try to use the HAMRS program to do our logging. It has a POTA mode and very simple to use. If you haven’t checked it out, go to . They have a version for about every device you can come up with. We may have to share and take turns, loggers / talkers sort of thing but we’ll make it work. You’ll probably want to bring a lawn chair also.?

Below is a link with some information on doing a club activation. Thinking the solar flare might cause the bands to be a problem?…. I decided to sneak down to the dean davis conservation area today and see how conditions were. They were up and down a little but I ended up making 111 contacts in just under 2 hours on 20 meters…. So we should be fine!!! Was a ton of fun!!
