The new UHF repeater in West Plains will have an output frequency of 444.425 (+) 110.9hz. It’s not on the air yet, but you’ll have some time to get your radios programmed!!

Join us at the farmers market tomorrow from 8 - 1. Last week was basically a washout, so this week is a redo. If you’re unable to join us but have the ability to use echolink or allstar, connect to EchoLink node KD0CEN-L or allstar node 57004. If all goes well, we’ll have the node up and running by 8am.?

I can’t believe it’s August already! Our August meeting will be tomorrow night, 7pm at the Howell County EOC. Lots to discuss and I’ll be giving a demonstration on tuning the uhf repeater duplexer that will be used when we get our next repeater up and operational!

Our regular net will be at 7pm tonight. Round one will be on the 145.250 as usual, but round 2 will be on 146.940 to test that repeater. Following that… around 7:30, we’re going to try a simplex net on 146.520 and test our ability to communicate should repeaters not be an option. I’m not sure how it will will go, but be patient and fire your radios up to test them with us!

Solar Eclipse Ham Radio Fun
This looks neat… something to look into.

For anyone that loves a cheap radio, you might check out this prime day deal on a TYT handheld. They’re typically around $40 or a two pack for $60, today they’re $32. I think they’re a better performing radio than a baofeng, just my opinion.?

June Meeting and Farmers Market Saturday
Thanks to everyone that turned out for the meeting Tuesday evening! I think it went great and we’ll be able to make lots of progress going forward.
Our Farmers Market display last Saturday turned out great. We made some HF contacts, and several new friends that will join our club on a regular basis. Because of the success, we’re going to do it again this Saturday and every 3rd Saturday for a while from 8-1 at Endurance Church in West Plains. Come be with us if you can, but we understand if you can’t. If you have radios you need help programming, bring them by and we’ll try to help you out. This has proven to be a great opportunity for us to reach out to our community and grow some interest. We can also use it as time to get together and help each other out and talk shop!!?
Hope to see everyone Saturday.?

This month’s club meeting will be held Tuesday, June 13th, 7:00pm at the Howell County Emergency Operations Center, located in the basement of the Howell County Health Department on Kentucky Avenue. Use the basement door on the North side of the building.
There is a lot to discuss and Craig KE0TKC will show us a nice end-fed antenna he built that we’ve been testing in a somewhat NVIS environment. It tunes up nicely on 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters.
Look forward to seeing everyone.

Amateur Radio will be on display at the Farmers Market, this Saturday, June 10th from 8:00am to around noon at Endurance Church in West Plains. Come to our booth, bring your radios and play along. Last go around, we had several come by and express interest in our hobby. We’re hoping for more of the same this time. Come join in the fun before we hopefully get some much needed rain!

FCC now requires RX exposure survey
The FCC , on?May 3, 2021, enacted rules governing RF exposure and allowed a 2-year transition period for all RF emitting stations to comply. On?May 23, 2023?ALL transmitters operating in the United States must comply with the rules. There is an excellent article about this in the May issue of QST. In a nutshell, all stations must complete an RF exposure survey and maintain documentation of that survey for every transmitter and antenna they utilize. To help amateur radio operators comply with this, the ARRL has developed an on-line exposure calculator to do the calculations and print out the results for documentation.

Re: Ozarks Heritage Music Fest
Good idea and good question. I’ll do some research on that.?
|
Re: Ozarks Heritage Music Fest
Should we come up with a club flyer to pass out? Are there any brochures we can aquire from ARRL or some such??
|
Re: Ozarks Heritage Music Fest
I’m all for it. I can be there the 3rd but not real sure about the 2nd. Sounds like from what I read online that we probably need to have a couple people at the booth both days. Should we make a schedule? Anything specific we should promote throughout the event??
