Re: ARES Weekly Net Tonight at 20:00CDT and Rolling Net Schedule.

Net tonight will be on the 145.250 only because audio isn¡¯t being passed back to the rest of the link. Echolink/Allstar out of service as a result. The rest of the system is functioning, just getting static only on anything incoming from the 250.?

Re: Study Resources

I don't have much to compare to because I've only used the one service, Ham Radio Prep. For $79 They set me up for lifetime access to all 3 levels of license. I just looked to confirm, I see there are also 2 more paid classes, HF Masterclass, $79 and EmComm, $99, both one time fee for lifetime access. These two won't be for newbies, but maybe someone with a long view may want to know that a service is updating and adding classes. I've not signed up so can't speak to them.
?
I've also purchased and used ARRL books for each level.

I'm compiling a list of useful study resources anyone has used to study for Tech, General, or Extra Class exams.. I like hamstudy.org, both online and apps. Let me know what you'd recommend to a newbie.

HOWEVER, if able get a copy of the presentation you were going to use for DIY, it would be useful for DIY refreshers and ad hoc presentations to new members...

Re: KM4ACK Video

Thanks. I watched the first hour and am intrigued. Eric and Terry have talked to me about flrig and I think, digirig. I started playing before I tore up the inside of my house and where I stopped I had determined that I'll need something akin to a USB-CAT cable to the FT857D. There was also talk of buying a device that "acts like a sound card". I'm going to bookmark this video until I get my antenna projects more stable. I'm interested in digital for low power and as Eric alludes to, that I can make and record contact w/o talking to people.
?
Add this to things I don't yet understand.

Indeed, an excellent video. While watching, YT showed another one of his videos that appealed to a Linux guy. I'll be testing his suggestion of Supercell-WX as a Linux tool for GRLEvel3. Actually, this program works on Linux and Windows, but I don't know enough about it yet to advise whether it is a worthy replacement for whatever you are using on Windows. If nothing else, switching to a supported, open source, and free application is often appealing to many people.
