Spring Parks on the Air Weekend

April 19th and 20th will be Support Your Parks weekend for anyone interested in POTA. I was able to participate in one of these weekends last year and achieve approximately 250 contacts in just a few hours at two different parks. The bands were jam packed with activators and the weather that weekend was perfect!! Tons of fun!! If you're unable to get out to a park, you can always be a hunter from your home and give all the activators the contacts they need!?
?
I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but as long as it isn't raining, I'll probably set up somewhere. If you make plans, be sure and share!!

Missouri QSO Party

The Missouri QSO Party is coming up on April 5th and 6th. The goal is to help other radio amateurs outside Missouri work as many counties as possible, and Missouri amateurs to work other states and countries. You can find all the rules at the link below. There’s a section on the website where you can register what counties and modes you plan to work on what days. Check it out! There’s already someone who’s registered to operate both CW and SSB from most of every county in southern Missouri over the two days. I need to take a closer look at the rules, but I think everyone can work from wherever they want and add our club call to their log when they submit it to create a club score (you need at least 3 submissions). It’ll definitely be a great way to make a ton of contacts that weekend! Hopefully everyone will be able to participate in one way or another!!?

Re: Tuesday Night Meeting

I would like to thank my parents, my siblings, and all the little people who got me here. I am feeling the love and support of the entire club and will continue striving to deserve your heartfelt feelings and sentiments.

?

Since my writing often doesn't convey the audio and visual clues of face to face communication, the above is entirely tongue in cheek. I appreciate the humor and good-natured ribbing.

?

Hope to see everyone at the meeting tonight.

Re: Tuesday Night Meeting

Our monthly meeting is at 6pm Tuesday night at the Howell County EOC. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend due to a work related event. I have passed my agenda along to him which has several topics to discuss as we move into spring & summer.

My apologies for the scheduling conflict. Up until Friday, I was told this event was Wednesday. Oh well… can’t win them all. As a result, we’ll postpone our discussion / demonstration on HF antennas until next month as I don’t want to dump too much on Steve at a short notice. ?

CHIRP that will NOT program your radio

?

This may be a fun thing to play with, but I post it more as a reminder that all our devices have microphones that may be listening, even if you didn't intentionally configure it or the latest application you installed from a play store didn't ask permission.

?

?

When I opened the bleepingcomputer link I was holding out hope that since our Android phones can now function as a shortwave radio, maybe we could program them over audio.

Cool, but not yet.

Re: WEATHER SPOTTER CLASS CANCELLED

I've never known them to reschedule a class that had been canceled.?

Link to the upcoming classes in the region if you’re interested. Chances are slim that they will reschedule the Howell County class.

Re: New Yaesu Mobiles

I agree, it sounds good. The button is well placed and convenient, but once it is on, would you ever turn it off? Could something you use more often be there?? I've got a Yaesu HF and as I recall I leave that enabled. My radio comes out of storage soon as the house remodel is fast approaching the cleanup stage. I'll confirm at that time.

Recently, Yaesu has released a few new mobiles with a new audio digital signal processing feature. The feature appears to do an excellent job of cleaning noise off analog signals. I’ve seen a couple videos and have been impressed, but just happened to run across this one and thought I would share it. Pretty awesome feature if you ask me.

Re: New Yaesu Mobiles

That's very nice audio. I wonder if the digital filtering is based on the same DNR technology in their HF rigs??
