Thanks for posting that, Brad.??

Advice I got from a VK activator - if you carry a Garmin InReach or a Spot or some other satellite communicator while you hike, carry it in a way where you can reach it with either hand while hiking, rather than clipping it on the back of your backpack, out of reach (in case you might not be able to access it after a nasty fall).? I have also gotten into the habit of clipping my InReach to myself (belt loop or similar) when I doff the pack and walk around the summit setting up - this way it is with me 100% of the time.

Also, (for the InReach users) it might be wise to learn how to text from it without using the smartphone - it's all pushbuttons at that point - it's slow, but it is doable.? The ham who?needed rescue lost his phone as he slid down that mountain.? His phone could have? just as easily gotten broken, low/dead battery, etc.

The "TracBack" feature might also save you someday in unfamiliar surroundings, so don't overlook that handy feature, either.

It's often the little things that get us in trouble.
