Hey Everyone
?
Even though I bailed on coordinating last year's campout as we approached it, didn't attend myself, and am terrible at sending out emails to coordinate in general, I figured I'd post a quick note about a potential 2025 gathering. Thanks again to James - KI0KN for picking up my slack last year and to all others that assisted and/or attended!
?
To get things started for 2025, I wanted to see what kind of interest there is regarding attendance, as well as thoughts on location.? With that said, if you could maybe respond to THIS thread with your thoughts on the below, it would be appreciated.
?
1) Are you interested in attending? I'm thinking of keeping it around the same timeframe as last weekend, which if I recall, coincided with the Sept VHF contest, which is September 13-15, 2025.
?
2) Would you prefer to return to the same location (Reverands Ridge campsite - Golden Gate Canyon State Park)??
?
OR....go elsewhere? If you are interested in going elsewhere, throw out some ideas.?
?
3) Matt- KF0RIG reached out to me this week and was kind enough to offer a suggestion for another location.? It's the Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp:
?
.
?
Matt stated that he, based on his relationship, might be able to reserve all 5 sites at that location. BUT, if we are going to go with that option, we'd have to possibly let him know in the next month or so in order to get things reserved. So, please consider this along with your thoughts on other locations.?
?
Also, I am not committed in this role of master of ceremonies. So, if someone wishes to take over coordinating, I am MORE than happy to assist any way I can! ;)?
?
That's all for now. Enjoy the snow! - Mike, W1NV

Rocky Mt. Mennonite is available Sep 26-29 for campsites and cabins with heated bathhouse.
?
I plan to attend.
I am good with either site or others.
I would like to help with planning.
?
I think State park sites become available for reservation 6 months in advance.?
?
Matt
|
Sign me up for either location.?

Thanks for picking this back up and getting us going early Mike!
We are in.? Looks like there are 8 sites at the Mennonite camp and our rig would fit in site 1 or 8, so we are good with either location.
Had a ton of fun last year, already looking forward to doing it again.

I'm good with?either location too.? It would be fun to activate in a part of the state I don't normally get to.? Of course, my commitment?is tentative - as Curtis says, depending on life and more likely work events that time of year.
I would be car/tent camping...maybe I can get the girlfriend and dog to attend?as well.

Mike,
Thanks for getting this going.
Joyce and I missed last year because of a wedding.
We are looking forward to participating this year and Sept 13-15
looks good.
We always enjoy the Colorado State Parks and it sounds like
people enjoyed Golden Gate last year.
We would bring our Class B RV (Camper Van). The RM Mennonite Camp
sounds OK too but I did not find much info on their website about
campsites.

I'm in, wherever it may be. That said, RMMC in Divide is closer to me, which means more time for hiking :)
The September VHF weekend was neat: I brought a 6m dipole and got some good SSB contacts down to Pueblo.
Thanks Mike and crew!

I'm also interested in either location.? I really like combining the VHF weekends with a SOTA.?? Having a group activity made it all the better!? I would choose to be on a summit that weekend either way.?? Too bad it was just brutal?cold here for the January VHF contest, otherwise I would have gone up!??
We really enjoyed the nice campsites and facilities at Reverend Ridge. Would gladly reserve there again! However these campsites in Divide would be a great excuse to get some new activations and explore around Divide / Woodland Park.
What other summits are close proximity after Raspberry Mountain??? I have only activated Pikes Peak down in that area and that was a last minute decision, drive up with my inlaws in the back seat!? 12 quick QSOs with a handheld before my fingers were freezing and the rangers were closing the gates! Mueller State Park and Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument look nearby for POTA.??
Looks like Raspberry Mtn is within Pike National Forest boundaries too.?
