Let's hope there's not too much damage from Charley.

Thanks for that info. Hope the repeater holds up, we could use reports from that area when the net comes back on air. Needless to say, I'm pretty well protected down here. :)

I am familiar with the repeater but utilize my IRLP node through the 9210 reflector to access the WXNET.? I have other's in my area who monitor the WXNET through my 2 meter IRLP dedicated rig.?? I had Echolink some years ago when it first came out and was?totally a PC function.?I?am not familiar with the connection procedures now that Echolink can be run through radios and repeaters.

Hi Bryan,

My name is Rob Macedo, KD1CY, and I will be the net control tomorrow morning
for the VoIP Net to support the National Hurricane Center from the SEMARA
(Southeast Massachusetts Amateur Radio Association) just outside of New
Bedford, Massachusetts. We'll be under our club call-sign, W1AEC. We also
have capability to monitor IRLP node 9213 locally and will monitor in the
background. If you need anything from me, let me know.

I am the SKYWARN Coordinator for the National Weather Service in Taunton,
Massachusetts and our call-sign there is WX1BOX. We have used VoIP
technology to overcome the tough terrain in Western Massachusetts and
Northern Connecticut to be able to talk directly to those areas during
SKYWARN Activations. We have been very pleased with how its worked for us.
Nice to meet you over the email list and hopefully its quiet in your part of
Florida and if it isn't, hopefully everything will work with no glitches.
Take care!

WX4MIA the Amateur Radio Station at the National Weather Service in Miami
will be commencing Net operations for the approach and passing of Hurricane
Charlie.

We will be taking local severe weather reports and relaying them to the
local forecasters at the NWS via the following repeaters and modes.

147.060 will be our primary net frequency. This repeater has Echolink on it
we ask that stations not in the area not connect directly to the repeater as
we will need it for local reports only.

147.760 will be our back up in case the primary goes down.

We will also be on IRLP. I may connect our local repeater to the 921
reflector on channel 3 if I can get permission to do so in time for
tomorrows nets. Stations in the NWS coverage area can connect to the
reflector as needed to relay report to the NWS. If this does not pan out
then we will connect directly with stations in the effected areas.

This repeater will be 442.250 the PARC Repeater.

This is WX4MIA's first test of the VOIP network. We hope all will go smooth.

We are not expecting a direct hit, but wind rain and severe weather can be
expected on the East coast and the Keys are expected to be hit.

Streaming audio is finally up. Sorry about the delays. IM and cellular SMS are the most reliable ways to catch me. I might subscribe to this from work, just to give some redundancy as well.

No activity at this stage, but I'll keep an ear out. Also, please keep me informed, as I need to make some decisions tomorrow night re my availability and may need to so a bit of rejigging of cron jobs.
