Haunted Tucson, 2018
Hello All,
Halloween is nearly upon us, so it's time once again to report your encounters with the supernatural in Tucson. Can you add to our list? Can you personally confirm anyone else¡¯s anecdotes? Ghost Tour update: I¡¯m still very willing to lead a fact-based, historically accurate ghost tour for VanishingTucson.com members. Based on research, I still cannot find enough previously unknown potentially haunted sites within easy walking distance of each other to create a walking tour. As mentioned before, many of the best sites are now parking lots created by urban renewal or other demolitions. I¡¯m still working on this project, so please post your experiences. I¡¯m sure you noticed this Group has been sleepy for awhile. Lately, instead of posting messages here, I¡¯ve been conducting one-on-one interviews with longtime Tucsonans for a future podcast. I¡¯ll be putting out a call for interviewees here soon. Stay tuned for that! Meanwhile, please post your paranormal experiences here, and I'll add them to our list. This is a semi-private group, so there's no need to be bashful about sharing your experiences. Thanks to everyone who contacted me off-board last year! Here¡¯s a good example: The Balboa Spectre For years, residents in the vicinity of Fort Lowell Road near Oracle Road have reported seeing an old woman strolling down Balboa Avenue. When approached, the woman de-materializes. Significantly, people have noticed her while walking to and from Evergreen Cemetery, a couple blocks away. Possibly significant, they have noticed her while walking to / from Speedy¡¯s Liquors. You may have noticed Speedy's Liquors. Its a tiny, Modernist commercial building built in 1953 at 201 W. Fort Lowell, originally the office of Ace Trailer Sales. Ads in 1954 boasted ¡°20 foot trailer, $150¡±. ........................................................................................................................... Our massive alphabetical list below was compiled from books, newspapers, T.V., online sources, and of course, our VanishingTucson first hand accounts. Like our list of Tucson films, it is the most comprehensive list available anywhere. Thanks to all of you! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> American Home Furnishings building on north Oracle see: Oracle View Cinemas 4690 N Oracle Rd <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Arizona Desert School, Christie Drive, north end of 1st Ave Operated circa 1930¡¯s to 1950¡¯s. Abandoned for years, considered haunted, then demolished. From VanishingTucson.com¡ Fred wrote ¡°I asked my Dad this one and even he didn't know. At the end of 1st avenue, called Christie Drive, there used to be an abandoned complex of buildings (late 60s) that could have been a rest home or something like it. There were 3 or 4 wings with enclosed courtyards, and one 2-story section that overlooked a pool and had a great view of the city. Now, this is a bunch of condos or apartments¡¡± Ted replied: ¡°[Arizona Desert School] was a private school offering top notch education and services to young men with health problems. There was a stable, corrals, polo field, sports courts and many other benefits. Each student had his own horse, courtesy of the School, chores to do each day, and a full schedule of classes. Many of the kids came from the East, and included the Firestone (tires) brothers, the Haggin brothers (horse racing), movie actor Butch Jenkins, actor Robert Montgomery's son, and others.¡± Thanks to ¡°dr13us¡± for clarification <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Arizona Historical Society, 949 E. Second Street Many of the employees of the Arizona Historical Society have experienced unexplained phenomena over the years. AHS has had it¡¯s budget slashed, including staff, so it¡¯s not hard to be alone in a cavernous wing of the huge, silent, building. If you believe in spirits, it should be easy to find them in a building stuffed with centuries-old artifacts, but remember that AHS employees are highly educated, un-superstitious historians and archivists. Most of their stories involve the usual weird sounds and voices. The most specific account seems to involve a painting from the Spanish Colonial period, which just so happens to be stored in the oldest part of the building, in the deepest basement archive. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Avalon Estate on N. It's found in the historic Blenman House and those who've been in Tucson a while know the name Blenman. We certainly don't advertise ourselves as a haunted bed & breakfast, but when people come to an historic inn, I think they come expecting to have encounters with spirits." And this old house, complete with vintage furniture and old-world style craftsmanship doesn't disappoint. "Judge Blenman is said to be hanging around in this place way after his passing way back in the early part of the last century." The Blenman family owned this home for more than 100 years and the Cindy Marie suite used to be Judge Charles Blenman's old law office. One he's not ready to leave. "We've seen writings of previous owners and records from people who've been here in the past, who have claimed to see Judge Blenman walking around up and down the parlor and down the garden path." The new owners of the Royal Elizabeth have some stories of their own. "This back door would open by itself all the time. Really strange. We'd go and we'd close it and we'd leave and it would open again." And people aren't the only ones noticing strange occurrences. "Also our dog Lucy who is walking around here at the moment would all of a sudden run to this door and sit there and bark when no one was clearly in the house." Judge Blenman's office isn't the only requested suite. "They also request the Rose Room, which is another room in the house. There are websites written about activity from the Blenman family as well." But don't let the ghost stories scare you off, the owners say it's harmless and part of the experience of staying at an old inn. "If Judge Blenman or anyone else is living in the house with the rest of us here. They clearly are having a good time and appreciate what we've done with the place and the energy that's here in the house." The funeral home was built in 1966, on the site of the former 1958 Lusk Corporation offices. These occurrences were reported privately, and happened to the person¡¯s family member while working at Bring's. ".... He first mentioned a time when he was staying overnight and a woman came to do a drop-off from the removal company. After she delivered the body the radio all of a sudden went on by itself and started playing the Beach Boys in the embalming room. They were both very spooked out. Other things that happened while he was doing the night shift, he would hear pipes banging in the middle of the night for no reason (one guy quit after hearing them). The phone would ring at all hours of the night and no one would be there and they wouldn't hang up. The door bell would ring late at night and no one would be there. One night he was sitting at the lunch table there and he heard footsteps walking up to the door. He opened the door and no one was there. He said he thought to himself, "What am I doing this for?!?!" Shortly after that one he ended up quitting. The one I remember the most was when he was asleep there and woke up to his shower/bathroom bag falling down off a ledge. When he got up to look and see what happened he said his bag had not just fallen, but flew to the middle of the shower. He picked it up and put it back where it was. He got back into bed, almost fell asleep and it happened again. It didn't just drop it was in the middle of the shower again. He put it back, went to bed and it happened a Third Time. He went back in there picked it up and said, "OK I Won't put it in here!" He put it in his suitcase bag. After that time he brought his roasary beads with him and went to bed with them in his hand and he said they stopped bothering him after that. When he spoke with a coworker about some strange incidents happening there she told him the place has been haunted for years...." "...She also said when they first opened up they used to play Monopoly during the day and take a break and go out for lunch. When they would come back, all the pieces on the board game would be scattered and moved around. The last story he mentioned was when he was in the embalming room and there were old white lab coats hanging on hooks with the embalmers names on them. He was looking through an old desk that wasn't used anymore (embalmer had passed away) and found an arthritis bracelet with magnets in there. He took it since he has arthritis and as he took it all these little alarms started going off. He heard all this noise. He opened the door where it was coming from and it was a box of deceased's pacemakers going off. Yikes! He said that since it was one of the embalmers who worked there a long time someone didn't want him taking the bracelet. Wouldn't catch me there overnight - that¡¯s for sure". Rumor has it that a man had died from a heart attack in the school, and that it might be him that is creating this havoc. Thanks to theshadowlands.net Catalina High School - Another spirit is that of a school custodian named Martin Valencia, who died in the 1970¡¯s. He was a beloved member of the staff and the stories say that he was especially careful about fellow workers who attempted to pilfer food items from the kitchen or the home economics classrooms. He was so conscientious that the cooks would always leave out treats and snacks for him, which Martin then shared with his co-workers. One day, he suffered a heart attack and passed away while on the job. However, it is said that he has never left the school. According to reports, his ghost still lingers behind and helps with the cleaning. In June 1980, a custodian swore that he saw someone cleaning the restrooms before graduation ceremonies took place. He was in the hallway, a few minutes past midnight, when he heard the metal casters of a garbage container rolling down the hall. He looked and in the dim light, could just make out the figure of a man moving the container along. He saw him turn into the restroom and he thought nothing of it. He assumed that it was one of the other custodians until about one minute later... when he found all of them in the gymnasium setting up chairs! Is Martin Valenica still at his former school? If he is, then many have joked that he seems to have his own methods of cleaning... as trash containers and cleaning supplies often disappear and then turn up in other places, doors slam shut, lights turn off on startled employees and more. Many custodians feel they have been the victims of pranks until they realize that the only explanations for the strange events are ghostly ones. Perhaps someone should check and see if these fellows have been raiding the cafeteria and have incurred Martin¡¯s good-natured wrath? One is a woman wearing a long white dress from an earlier time. The man is a more recent specter, thought to be a patron who died of a heart attack within the last 50 years. The woman has been seen to frequent the upper balcony seats in an area that was once a balcony but is now sealed off, as well as the green room. She is very protective over her space and has been known to push employees down the halls and stairs. The man seems to be the counter balance and helps anyone who has been injured by the woman. When I was a kid in the late '70's my parents owned this property, which was comprised of 2 apartments. Various members of my family, as well as tenants who were not family, occupied these apartments at some point. Almost all of them complained of some kind of occurrences inside the apartments. The complaints varied from the amusing (made beds being undone, refrigerator door opening at night), to the utmost frightening (the feeling of being attacked while asleep). A very deep hole was discovered on the south-west corner of the back yard. Its possible that is was a well. I was told that something could be seen on the bottom. What it was they would not tell me, but nobody was happy about it. But, I did hear that it could have been the explanations for what was happening inside the house. I know no one was ever contacted about the hole - they just filled it back up. I don't know who owns or lives there now. My parents sold the property back in the early '80's. Sure would like to know if the people who have lived there and live there now have had any experiences. We were scared so we took our BB guns. We quietly entered one of the larger dilapidated buildings and began listening for ghosts. One of us accidentally made a loud noise which caused dozens of roosting doves and bats to instantly explode into flight all around us. We all ran out of the building screaming. Hearing this, Old Man Adkins came out of the welding shop and chased us down. I accidentally dropped my BB gun, and when I stopped to pick it up, Adkins caught me. He demanded to know the name of my father. It turned out that he and my father were old friends, so he let me go. He will ask for money to feed his family that is suffering from The Great Depression. Thanks to theshadowlands.net A detailed account from VanishingTucson.com: ¡°When we first purchased the theatre for renovation, we worked for a long time without power - flashlights only. But after we installed basic power for construction lights it didn't get any less creepy. The shut off switch for the main set of lights was down at the front of the auditorium and when I was the last one in at night I would walk VERY quickly to the front door after switching off those lights! The most active places seemed to be; The projector booth. On at least one instance I saw someone move in the projection booth when I was down on stage and KNEW I was the only person in the building. Ran up there but found no one. Other volunteers mentioned similar experiences. The mechanical basement. Accessible by stairs around the back of the theatre, this area always had a "vibe". "Green Rooms" under the stage. The area under the stage was originally planned for dressing rooms but was never finished as vaudeville gave way to films early in the Fox's history. One of our staff REFUSED to go into that area alone. Part of the downtown underground tunnels ran through this area and you can still see where the tunnel was "rocked up" when you descend the southern stairwell. Research into territorial maps also found that the northeast corner of this basement was the location of an "indian well" that was located just outside of the Presidio wall. Interviews with some of the homeless that made the Fox their home when it was boarded up also shared some creepy stories. Potential ghosts: - During original construction, a worker in the auditorium broke his neck when scaffolding collapsed - although he did not die in the theatre but rather latter in the day. - In the 1950's a man seated in the balcony was reported to ushers as being drunk. They found he had died (probably heart attack) but they maintained the "he's drunk" story as they carried him out so as not to frighten the other patrons. He died up near the projection booth. An employee with an office on the second floor explained how the building is constructed with pre-stressed concrete, and the entire floor flexes slightly up and down as people walk through the hall outside his office. You can literally feel their footsteps. On one occasion while working late, he distinctly heard the usual sound of footfalls on the carpet in the hallway outside, but in this one case, the floor did not move at all. He called the security guard downstairs who assured him that there was no one in the building besides themselves. On several occasions, building security guards were known to quit rather than work alone at night. On one night the security guard heard very loud noises and quickly located the cause. Several large filing cabinets had been pushed over. Since this was an obvious sign that intruders were in the locked building, he called for police backup. They searched the building thoroughly, but found no one. Carlos note: this is another case involving a fairly new building, too new to be haunted (?), but built in the vicinity of early Native American settlements, usually near water. In this case, aerial photography from the 1950¡¯s shows the area before development criss-crossed with old trails and small arroyos. A larger, older arroyo may have been diverted prior to construction of Davis-Monthan nearby, and adjacent residential subdivisions. Much of Tucson¡¯s monsoon flooding problems can be attributed to the elimination of these natural watercourses. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Old Tucson Studios - Paranormal phenomena has been reported in several areas of the studios by security guards. The first is the Grand palace saloon. Several ghosts, including one of a little girl, have been spotted throughout the building. The little girl is often spotted on the stairs leading to the second floor. Adjoining the saloon is Rosa's Cafe. The apparition of a young woman has been seen here and reports of unusual noises and moving objects are common place. The most active location within the studios is the Arizona Theater, also called "The Story teller's. This is a small underground theater that many believe is haunted by a malevolent spirit. Although there are a few exceptions, the ghost mainly makes it presence known to women. When women enter the theater alone and sit in the back row of the theater in the dark, they began to hear noises on the stage which resemble footsteps. The footsteps then "jump" down off the stage and move towards the women at the rear of the theater. Suddenly, the subtle light coming from the theater's exit lights are blocked as if someone is standing before them. This is following by either a tapping sound or heavy breathing. Usually the women turn on a flash light at this point, revealing that no one is there. On occasion, the ghost makes its presence known to men. This has only happened to male security guards that the "ghost" doesn't like. They often end up quitting their jobs and the few that have not refuse to enter the theater alone. The school house is another studio building that has unusual phenomena associated with it. Security guards hear the sound of children and the lights go on and off by themselves. The door also seems to unlock itself, much to the display of the security guards. The hauntings are not limited to specific buildings however. The ghost of a cowboy has been seen and heard walking about the town's streets. Security guards have heard the sound of footsteps and spurs moving down the streets surrounding the saloon and town hall. One security guard actually saw the "cowboy" walk right past her and through the locked door of one of the studio's shops. Another phenomena that occurs through the studios is called "Shadow man" by employees. Basically it appears like a dark human figure that seems to follow (or stalk) security guards and visitors. Other unusual activities that occur are the random turning on of building lights around the studios. Thanks for posting.? What do you know about Sterling Yale?? I posted a schedule from 1957 that shows him spinning records for KCNA 1340 from 8 to midnight sign-off, but no mention of what type of music. I had heard Sterling was Tuicson's first black deejay, but KCNA materials show they had an African American deejay named Jim Brownlow when they first signed on, way back in 1947.? The station was integrated possibly due to the influence of one of the owners, author Erskin Caldwell, known for "Tobacco Road" and "God's Little Acre". Does anyone know what happened to Sterling? there is no mention of him in the Star or Citizen at all after 1957.? And here are some images of Duke's from the mid 1950s and then the early 1970s https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/vanishingtucson/photos/albums/135262938 Thanks for your help, Carlos ---In vanishingtucson@..., <billahrens@...> wrote : Yes it was Dukes Drivein in the 50¡¯s. He must have had a premonition about the demolition. Thanks, Carlos Here is his article: Ring¡¯s Reflections by Bob Ring Tucson¡¯s Beau Brummel Club Did you ever wonder about that odd-shaped building ¨C the one that looks like an old drive-in food establishment (see photo) - near the northeast corner of N. Main Avenue and W. Speedway Boulevard? In fact, the building opened as Dukes Drive-In in the early 1940s, offering eating from your car or inside at a counter and booths. Today, the building is the home of the Beau Brummel Club, a private social organization. The Beau Brummel Club was established in 1936 by small group of African American men ¡°who were refused entrance into Anglo social clubs of that era.¡± The founders included Colonel Reuben L. Horner III, one of the most decorated blacks of World War II, and Duke Shaw, who would later build and operate Dukes Drive-In. The Club was named after the iconic Beau Brummell who lived in England in the early 1800s and is famous for introducing modern men¡¯s fashions, like the suit worn with a tie. For an unknown reason, the Club¡¯s name ¡°dropped¡± the second ¡°l¡± in Brummell. Initially the group was limited to 15 men, supported education and social services in the African American community, and provided a sort of hospitality welcome for blacks new to Tucson. Club members started out meeting in each other¡¯s houses, held a popular annual formal dance at the old Blue Moon ballroom (burned down in 1947), brought in entertainment like Louis Armstrong, and held picnics on Mount Lemmon and in Sabino Canyon. The Beau Brummel Club was also helpful in the integration of major league baseball. In 1947, starting a 15-year relationship with our town, Bill Veeck, owner of the Cleveland Indians, brought his newly integrated team to Tucson for spring training. The Pioneer Hotel, the team headquarters, had a strict ¡°whites only¡± policy then so Dukes Drive-In became the place for black professional baseball players to eat and socialize. This included such Cleveland Indians stars as Larry Doby, Satchel Paige, and Harry ¡°Suitcase¡± Simpson. At first Beau Brummel members hosted black Cleveland Indians in their homes. But Duke Shaw built a ten-unit motel just to the south of the Club to accommodate the baseball players and visiting black entertainers. In 1954 the drive-in was expanded and the Beau Brummel Club moved into a portion of the building with, as current member and local attorney Rubin Salter says, ¡°great fanfare.¡± The Beau Brummel Club took over the whole building when the drive-in restaurant was shut down in the 1970s. The motel lasted until 2005 when it was torn down, after being abandoned for several years. The Beau Brummel Club is still active today. The Club has changed its all-male, blacks-only policy and now is more racially diverse and includes women. According to attorney Salter, the membership is mostly professional, including people from IBM and Raytheon for instance. Currently the Club has 20 members on the Corporate Board, but sells ¡°access cards¡± for $10 to an average of a hundred people a year. The Club is primarily for members, who enjoy getting together to play cards or dominoes; younger members are attracted more to sports-related activities. Both members and those with access cards make use of the full-service bar in the Club. Occasionally the Club sponsors musical events, hosting visiting bands with an emphasis on ¡°Downhome Blues,¡± according to Rubin Salter¡¯s son, Kristian, also an attorney. The Club has maintained its community service mission by holding tailgate parties at University of Arizona football games, sponsoring an annual Ghetto Open golfing event for charity at local courses, and hosting an annual ball for members and invited guests. The Beau Brummel Club faces two threats to its future. The first ¨C a sign of the times ¨C is the difficulty of maintaining successful private fraternal organizations and social clubs in an increasingly impersonal, electronic-messaging society. The second threat ¨C to the building ¨C is the probable future redevelopment of the entire just-north-of-town-center area. But, for an amazing 76 years the Beau Brummel Club has survived, thrived, and become a worthwhile community institution. As the Club¡¯s namesake Englishman Beau Brummell might say, ¡°Good show and good luck for the future!¡± Thanks to Effrim Griffin who suggested this story and helped in the research. Re: Beau Brummels
Lived in Tucson from 1990 to 2011. In that time, much of the history of the city (particularly around the university) was destroyed. Was one of the leaders of a group that tried to save the Talk of the Town building. We failed. For years, an empty lot stood in the place it had been before it was torn apart.
Tucson has no respect for its past. That's one of the reasons I left. Not that there's a right or wrong in this. Some look at old structures and see gems. Others see garbage. People who like everything new are drawn to "The Old Pueblo." I moved to a city that respects its past. Plenty was lost because that respect wasn't established until the 1990s. From the 1950s through the 1980s, many gorgeous structures met the wrecking ball. But it doesn't happen anymore. My office is in a 1929 15 story building, still the tallest in town, with art deco panels on the facade. There are many buildings significantly older. Among our housing stock are many Victorians. I think this is great. My children differ. They prefer the new. At this point in my life, I don't see things in black and white. One perspective isn't more right than the other. That said, I do think the developers in Tucson cast a corrupting influence over government. Those guys wield a lot of power and Tucson is like the cheap date that never says no. Seems to me the city suffers from what was once simplistically called an insecurity complex. It just can't get its head around that anything it has is worth having. It's always trying to be somewhere else. Perhaps it began with that national story about Speedway Boulevard that called it the ugliest street in America (or something like that). That story probably did more to obliterate history than any other single thing. It's a real shame because if Tucson had appreciated what it had, there are few cities that could have held a candle. We had more historic awesomeness than Santa Fe until the Barrio was torn down. |

Re: Beau Brummels
This area of Tucson is going to hell in my opinion.? Between the massive amounts of luxury apartments for the kiddos to destroying historic neighborhoods and/or buildings, we're turning into nothing but a pile of rubble.? I work on campus part-time, its a freakin' nightmare of driving restrictions, no left turns, and construction debris.? One of the oldest and most historic cities in the U. S. (I was told when I moved here in 2003 that we had the highest concentration of historic neighborhoods for our size in the country) is being slowly demolished.? So many of those "historic neighborhoods" that were here when I moved in 2003 have been "realigned" (University Historic Neighborhood that had its overlay rewritten for the apartments) or dare I say totally lost.? Even one of the newest designated neighborhoods is becoming lost to new construction, 4th Avenue.? Instead of 60-100 year old buildings that are cool AND are in good shape and can be used, we'll get (wait for it) more luxury apartments and now "container boxes".? Why bother getting a neighborhood designated anymore, it won't save it, they can build whatever the heck they want if the developers play nice with the city council.? I worked on surveys for a lot of these buildings that are being affected and it makes me positively ill to see what's happening.? Sure, there are buildings that have outlived their purpose, are too damaged to fix within financial means, or the space can serve a better purpose.? Container boxes, luxury student housing, and another "craft brewery/tattoo shop/5 table restaurant with a weird menu" isn't it.

Re: Haunted Tucson, 2016
I attended the LightHouse YMCA regularly in the late 1950's. Our day camp headquarters was an old, large 2 story house about 100 feet south of the pool complex. A large courtyard behind the home, a small air rifle range on the Columbus side. Enough room on the grounds for archery, and the skeleton of an early fighter jet on the East side, it's belly filled with cement ballast. Great memories made at the old house, it's grounds and the camping trips to Mount Lemon. When you reference the Y being near the site of the old McCormick Mansion was this the building referred to?? Also, are there pictures of the old LightHouse Y property?? |

Hello All,
Halloween is upon us again, so it's time to report your encounters with the supernatural in Tucson. Can you add to our list? Can you personally confirm anyone else¡¯s anecdotes? Public interest in the paranormal keeps growing, and I've noticed that young people are more aware of history and historic buildings because of it. I¡¯m still very willing to lead a fact-based, historically accurate ghost tour for VanishingTucson.com members. Based on preliminary research, I was not able to find enough previously unknown potentially haunted sites within easy walking distance of each other to create a walking tour. Some of the best sites are now parking lots created by urban renewal or other demolitions. I¡¯m still working on this project, so please post your experiences. This is a semi-private group, so there's no need to be bashful about sharing your encounters with the unexplained. I¡¯ll share something strange. There have been many reports of strange occurrences at the Lighthouse YMCA on Columbus. The building is near the site of the old McCormick mansion, and this area was inhabited by the Hohokam for centuries. In the lobby there is a metallic message board with several magnets on it. Last December, on three separate occasions, when I wished someone a merry Christmas, a magnet fell off the board. In ten years, I have never seen a magnet fall off before or since. Thanks to everyone who posted last year! There were personal stories reported about Old Pueblo Traders, Fort Lowell, and Palo Verde High School. I¡¯ve added your reports to the list. Our massive alphabetical list below was compiled from books, newspapers, T.V., online sources, and of course, our VanishingTucson first hand accounts. "They also request the Rose Room , which is another room in the house. The woman has been seen to frequent the upper balcony seats in an area that was once a balcony but is now sealed off, as well as the green room. Adjoining the saloon is Rosa 's Cafe. Porsches in Tucson
hello Carlos;? might you have a photo of the Richfield station that was at the S. corner of 22nd street and Park?? The owner Al Jobst worked on our Porsches back in the 60's. When the city tore down the station Al purchased a automatic car wash on 22nd street west of Swan and converted it into the Porsche dealer for 1 year (1969)only then it became Grand Prix Motors BMW dealership. Al would eventually sell to the business to Bib Stillwell of LearJet fame. The Tucson Chapter of Porsche Club of America recently celebrated it's 50th anniversary and one missing link was a photo of the Richfield station & repair where we hung out with our 356 Porsche cars. Thanks so much, Jeff Gamble Tucsonan since 1951 ?

?
Hello All,
Just a quick note to let everyone know that Tucson Modernism Week is here again! ?If you're not familiar, Tucson Modernism Week is dozens of events, all week long, all over Tucson, celebrating different aspects of the bygone postwar period. ?The same things we talk about here: Mid-century homes, buildings, signs, fashions, car culture, popular culture, design, etc., etc.
There's almost too much for one person to see, but it's worth a try. ?Some events are free and others require tickets. ?Remember, your ticket cost goes directly to benefit the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation which works all year long, usually behind the scenes, to save the things in Tucson we all love. Here's a great way to contribute to a good cause, and get some entertainment and education at the same time.??
Looking forward to seeing you there again this year.
Thanks,
Carlos
Please go explore the website and see all the activities.
