Band Podorythmie, including Prairie Wolfe whose band Ground Effect just played at St. James 2 weeks ago, opens the evening with a performance 7:00-8:00, followed by a contradance with Vancouver¡¯s premier contradance band, The Sybaritic String Band, joined by caller Sherry Nevins from Seattle. Lines of couples perform simple footwork patterns, walking steps, and twirls to a live band playing Celtic, French Canadian, and American music. A dance caller calls out the pattern of the dance for the dancers to follow, so each dance is new and fun. *This event is inspired by the Seattle Green Lake Open Band Contra Dance.

Hear ye, hear ye! Musician and organizer Prairie Wolfe is hosting a free (by donation) outdoor contradance 2:30-5:00 Saturday August 20th at Burnaby Central Park (postponed if raining). Maureen Collier calling, open band ¨C interested musicians please contact Prairie, as noted in her facebook event. Prairie would welcome the loan of a battery powered sound system.
