开云体育YES!? It’s the military suppliers (and our economy) who benefit.? War creates jobs and revenue.? ? p.s.? how many years have we been in So Korea? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of robfrankel ? [Edited Message Follows] Actually, the?Lusitania was just one of many incidents in which German torpedoes sank civilian ships with no warning, so I'm going to disagree with you on that one.? As for "endless wars," that only started recently, when various administrations somehow decided that war is NOT about winning, and winning quickly.? The last president to engage correctly was George Herbert Walker Bush, who despite prodding by his cohorts, merely drove Saddam Hussein back into his corner.? The first Gulf War was short and decisive. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that when wars are prolonged with no decisive action/strategy, it's the military suppliers who benefit. Honoring our dead is popular across many cultures.? The truth is, harsh as it sounds, the first responders acted with honor.? Everyone else was just a victim.? In Israel, when a terrorist succeeds in blowing up a restaurant or café, the place is cleaned up and restored, usually within 24 hours.? They know that prolonging the misfortune is a victory for their enemy, so they dispose of the occurrence in order to show strength and endurance. We just sit in front of our screens and mope.

开云体育All some interesting points. ? The video is spot on.? I can only imagine what is going to happen when the panacea of the masses – God theory ?– is debunked. ? However, this is still very different: this happened on our soil, was carefully premeditated ?and was intentionally inflicted on innocent civilians.? I can’t comment on what all was going on with the Lusitania BUT that was during a world war.? Wrong place, wrong time?? Maybe. ? As for the quick disposal of remains, that simply was not possible with the size of the world trade center buildings had it even been desired.? It seems to me the 24 hr turn-around is one of the tenets of the Jewish philosophy, in particular . Possibly others as well.? For Christians, it is generally 72 hrs. although that was certainly not possible in this case either.? ? The people working in the Pentagon did return to work the very next day although it seems to me it may have taken a year or some large part of a year to restore that building. ? ? ? Re: 911
开云体育This is different.? This was a deliberate attack on innocent and unsuspecting civilians and not military actions among engaged militaries. ? I don’t know that getting even is desirable.? If the world ran on the get even principle, we would all be in non-stop war with each other including right here inside the US all day long, every day whether for real or imagined slights.? ? We succeeded in capturing and killing the perpetrator of the 9/11 attack as well as burying him where no one could use his grave as a martyr site.? Anti-climactic and wholly unsatisfying, that is nonetheless a good as it gets in this eye for an eye scenario. ? Although I am not religious, I was raised in a Christian household and in my family, we have traditions of honoring our dead.? We always place flowers on graves for holidays, birthdays, death days and other times when so motivated.? These services today are reminiscent of those traditions and ?also a reminder of a day when our country came together as one regardless of individual beliefs. ? It’s like my very smart Jewish husband remarked about his own impending demise:? what do you buy for a dead man except cut flowers? His grave is one of the few at Mt Sinai that has flowers – living plants as well as cut flowers - ?on it all year long.? ?18 years and counting. ? Best, Cathy Larimer ? ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of robfrankel ? I'll probably catch hell for this, but this reading of the 9/11 victims is a massive head fake that accomplishes nothing, and is actually an insult to the country. Sure, it looks like we're doing something, but we're really not. It makes people at home feel like they're participating, but they're really not. Nobody reads the names of sailors who died on December 7, 1941. Nobody reads the names of the passengers who died when the Lusitania was torpedoed. Like so much of what we see and do, these services are nothing more than a salve, designed to defray any real efforts or political actions. They serve only to provide a sense of accomplishment to a sedated population accustomed to subservience. "Did you watch the memorial service? It was so sad." That's it. That's all. There was a time when this country didn't slink off and lick its wounds. We didn't get mad; we got even. Now all we get is maudlin programming with regularly scheduled commercial interruptions. This is the shame that is America. ? Like ? ? ? Comment ? ? Share ? ? -- ? Rob Frankel Chief Curmudgeon ? |
Re: 911
开云体育This year's commemoration is a calculated to be an INTENTIONAL MISDIRECTION, to take away attention from the bungling of the Biden Administration over the past eight months. The Late Rush Limbaugh had a term for this sort of calculated misdirection.? He called it "symbolism over substance."? While people may subjectively feel better by recalling the events, this year has become a publicity event for political opportunists. Re: Recall yes, Elder no
I absolutely love Kevin Kiley and everything he's done, BUT he lost me with one remark in the first debate, when he said he would have the people of California?elect a new senator.? That told me he really didn't understand street fighting.? We simply cannot afford to lose a Senate majority with an?elected California senator.? The stakes are too high. Kiley should remain as the governor's ally in the Assembly, where he does outstanding work.? He can also get good experience since he's still quite young.

开云体育No elder.? So then? who? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bonnie Kurnick via groups.io ? Recall candidates
Did anyone watch first the recall debate? It was Kiley, Ose, Cox and that idiot ex-mayor from San Diego.? Kiley, whose record and intentions are my preference, didn't come off as well as I'd hoped, speaking quickly and looking nervous, while Ose came off well as the wisened voice of common sense.
However, I was impressed with John Cox, who was clear, concise and seemed very grounded.? I may throw my support there, depending on how the polls shape up. Neither Newsom nor Elder showed up -- very telling for both. -- ?
