Incorporate Valley Village, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Toluca Lake and NoHo Arts!

It¡¯s time to take action now! Incorporate Sherman Oaks, Valley Village, Studio City, Toluca Lake, and NoHo Arts!
The City of Los Angeles has been on the decline for decades. With rising crime, unreasonable police response times, unclean streets, declining school standards, and a general disregard for our valley communities, it¡¯s time to take back control of our neighborhoods from Los Angeles City Hall.
88 Cities within Los Angeles County have already incorporated, including the cities of Burbank, Beverly Hills and Glendale. They are clean, safe, and their residents are content in knowing that their voices are heard and taken seriously.
These days much of our neighborhoods are barely walkable. Unfortunately, the police often find their hands tied and can¡¯t arrest criminals, even with clear and incontrovertible evidence. Our streets and underpasses are barely cleared of trash.
?If you want to take back your city, your life and your safety from the hands of City Hall, sign this petition. Be a part of the solution today.

Seems like a good idea, but how do we know that the locals here won't simply parrot the whims of Garshitty & crew?? Is there any indication that if this were to succeed, that rational people would gain control?

To:

?

Good morning,?

Below are updates from the Mayor¡¯s office.

?

Key updates

COVID #s: From yesterday¡¯s release from the County Department of Public Health: 175 new cases in the county. There have been a total of 85,618 positives in West Valley communities, an increase of 157 confirmed cases since May 16th.

?

Changes to Vaccine Access

The City¡¯s vaccination program is expected to transition entirely to mobile clinics by August 1.

The City will expand the number of mobile units and deploy more agile teams based on community assessments that determine areas with high vulnerability and low vaccination rates. Mobile units will also focus on high traffic locations and special events to meet communities where they are and make it even easier to get vaccinated. This new phase focuses on three primary components:

?

  • Expanding the mobile program with more agile teams?
    • A partnership with Toyota will allow the City to add new van-based mobile vaccination teams that will help reach more neighborhoods and can be deployed to high traffic locations and special events.
  • Amplifying strategic deployment
    • Building on the existing MOVE model, the Mayor¡¯s Office and the Los Angeles Fire Department will continue to operate in areas with high vulnerability and low vaccine rates, while developing weekly strategic deployment plans that focus on high traffic locations and special events, in collaboration with community groups.?
  • Expanding access and incentives
    • Mobile clinics will offer more evening and weekend vaccination options, in convenient locations, while working with local partners to provide vaccination incentives.

Scaling down the mass vaccination sites will happen gradually, and these centers will remain open to the public over the next two months. On June 19, the mass vaccination site at Pierce College will close permanently, followed by Los Angeles Southwest College on June 26.?

Projected timeline of other closures: July 3 - Hansen Dam and Cal State LA site closure, July 7 - USC site closure, July 24 - Reassess need for mobile sites,July 31 - Crenshaw Christian Center, Lincoln Park and San Fernando site closure.

Pre-registration is not required, but Angelenos who wish to plan ahead can visit to sign up or find the locations nearest to them.?

Since launching a COVID-19 vaccination program in December, the City has administered over 1,294,249 doses to Angelenos.

?

City Budget Adopted

The Los Angeles City Council last week approved the 2021-2022 budget. The Justice Budget makes record-breaking investments in L.A.¡¯s recovery from the pandemic, and lays out a bold, progressive vision for a more just, equitable, and resilient city. The Mayor released his proposed??in April calling for $1 billion to tackle homelessness.?

Key components allocated by City Council:

  • Adding $5M to Basic Income Guaranteed: LA Economic Assistance Program (BIG: LEAP) for a total of $29M.
  • $10M for the expansion of the Senior Meals Program, in partnership with restaurants in disadvantaged communities. This will most likely function as an extension and remodel of the emergency senior meals program that was formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • $25M for Business Assistance Programs in Disadvantaged Communities with $5M specifically set aside for the implementation of the JEDI (Jobs and Economic Development Incentive) Zones and Good Food Zones Programs
  • $30M to fund the expansion of solar energy, energy storage and EV charging stations at City facilities.
  • $10M for Utility Assistance Debt Relief
  • $10M set aside for Child Care Business Assistance
  • $20M for the operation of eight childcare centers in disadvantaged communities
  • $75M for deferred maintenance at Recreation and Parks facilities

Other budget breakdowns:

  • $362 million for 89 projects and 5,651 total housing units through Proposition HHH;?
  • Nearly $200 million for the development of affordable housing, homeless prevention, eviction defense, and other homeless services?
  • $57 million for 9 additional CARE+ teams ¡ª which now totals one per each Council District ¡ª and 11 new regional storage facilities;
  • $43 million for Project Roomkey.?
  • $75 million in the City¡¯s COVID Emergency Fund to expand the City¡¯s Mobile Outreach for Vaccine Equity (MOVE) program, L.A. Al Fresco, the Small Business and Restaurant Recovery Fund, and steps to help revitalize the tourism and hospitality industries;
  • $33 million to expand the City¡¯s Gang Reduction and Youth Development program;
  • $24 million for America¡¯s largest guaranteed basic income pilot to date;?
  • $18.7 million to fund new programs founded on a Therapeutic and Unarmed Response for Neighborhoods (TURN) and community-based approach to reimagining public safety;
  • $8.7 million to employ high-barrier young adults to clean and beautify our communities, as well as $3.5 million to train and pay 1,000 low-income high school students to home-tutor young siblings who have struggled with distance learning;?
  • $10 million to the REPAIR Innovation Fund to support racial justice, community intervention, and reconciliation work;
  • $3 million to support the Social Equity Program within the City¡¯s Department of Cannabis Regulation and promote equitable ownership and employment within the cannabis industry.
  • Cumulative reserves of 11.3%

?

More locally, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield and Councilmember John Lee allocated additional funding from the budget to Devonshire PALS, Topanga PALS, and West Valley PALS, which provide safe, year round activities and programing for at-risk youth and helps to foster strong, positive relationships between young people, LAPD, and the community.

George Gascon Recall

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, May 20, 2021

County Registrar Approves Petitions for Public Circulation,

Gascon Recall Officially Underway

Victims and Los Angeles residents are fighting for justice

and the safety of their communities?

(LOS ANGELES, CA) ¨C Petitions for the recall of Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon have been approved by the Los Angeles County Registrar and are now available for public circulation and signature gathering. The petitions will be available for download at recallgeorgegascon.com/petition within the next twenty-four hours.

To successfully trigger a recall election, proponents must collect 579,062 signatures from registered voters in Los Angeles County (10 percent of the total number of registered voters) within a 160-day period. The deadline for signature collection is October 27, 2021. If successful, a recall election would likely take place in 2022.

¡°George Gascon got elected by disguising a radical, dangerous, and pro-criminal agenda as ¡®criminal justice reform,¡¯ but that¡¯s not what he is doing,¡± said Desiree Andrade, organizer and spokesperson for the Recall George Gascon campaign. ¡°What he failed to mention was that he would cater to the most heinous offenders in our society at the expense of victims and let cold-blooded killers back onto our streets. We have no choice but to seek Gascon¡¯s immediate removal from office because his twisted social experiment is jeopardizing the safety of our communities and revictimizing victims and their families all over again.¡±

¡°The outpouring of support for the recall movement and our fight to bring justice for victims has truly been amazing and is growing everyday as more residents learn about the destructive real-world impacts of Gascon¡¯s policies,¡± said Tania Owen, Co-Chair for the Recall George Gascon campaign. ¡°George Gascon has turned his back on victims and is failing to protect his constituents, so we are taking matters into our own hands. If you want to help make our community a safer place, please visit recallgeorgegascon.com and sign up to volunteer, donate, or download a petition ¨C we are going to need all of the support and volunteer efforts we can get to be successful.¡±

Recall organizers ¨C Victims of Violent Crime for the Recall of District Attorney Gascon ¨C will be hosting a press conference at the Los Angeles Hall of Justice in the coming days to formally kick-off the petition drive.

The grass roots effort to recall George Gascon is supported by crime victims and their families, victims¡¯ rights advocates, former law enforcement officials, and current and former prosecutors, including: Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, former Los Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley, former Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine, former Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Commissioner of Arcadia Burton Brink, former National Director for the Office for Victims of Crime John W. Gillis, Retired Deputy Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department Bob Green, Mayor of Palmdale Steve Hofbauer, leading expert in rescuing child sex trafficking victims Dr. Lois Lee, former Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Long Beach Timothy O¡¯Reilly, Mayor of Lancaster R. Rex Parris, Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp, Kern County District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer, and many others.

In addition, a growing number of City Councils across Los Angeles County have passed votes of no confidence against George Gascon, including:

?

  • Whittier
  • Beverly Hills
  • Rosemead
  • La Mirada
  • Lancaster
  • Pico Rivera
  • Covina
  • Santa Clarita
  • Azusa
  • Santa Fe Springs
  • Diamond Bar
  • Redondo Beach
  • Arcadia
