Re: Number of Ties in NETDRAW

Re: Attribute-based Effect for LR-QAP
开云体育I don’t there is. But, I can tell you that you would need to convert your attributes to numeric form, then cut and paste into either the matrix or dl editor. ? But: I think lr-qap is limited to about 4600 nodes, and even then it would be too slow to be practical. I ran a little test using a dataset with 4k nodes and 5 permutations, and it took 1 minute. That would suggest it would take about 3 hours to run 1000 permutations. ? steve ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Paulo Matui via groups.io

Re: viewing VNA parameters and swapping out data
开云体育I’m not sure what you mean, but a vna file is a text file, so you can open it in any editor to see what the parameters and to change data. However, if by parameters you mean visual properties like the color of a tie, these are set separately for every node and for every tie (see the vna file below and you will see what I mean). Notepad editor not displaying output
开云体育Hello fellow networkers, I’m not sure what I did, but now the default ‘notepad.exe' helper app is not working. The app itself is works fine if it is not called for by ucinet to display an output (i.e. when I open a .txt file directly). When I run any ucinet routine that would generate an output nothing happens; the output files are created in the declared default folder, but no text visualization is given. I have selected notepad++ as the default helper app for the text editor as a temporary solution (which is working fine) but would like to have the windows notepad.exe app be the default as customary. Any ideas what I might have screwed up? I have updated to the newest version of ucinet (6.800), but the bug was not fixed. ? Thanks in advance for your help … ? Jorge |

DL type format: complete triads
Dear networkers, I have a simple but fundamental concern with respect to DL type format. And I'm not sure if/how to solve it using either and/or edgelist and nodelist.
Say I have three nodes that are linked among each other, only once. They form a perfect and undirected triad. E.g.:
?
Pedro? ? ?Juan? ? ? Diego
?
1) How should I enter the data to represent the case in DL type format as a connected triad??
2) Would that be nodelist or edgelist?
3) If it's edgelist: which "data format" should I choose when importing to UCINET??
?
Or the only way to solve this is as follows?:
?
Pedro? ?Juan
Diego? ?Juan
?
Thank you in advance

Re: Question on Paired T-Test of Degree Centrality Across Two Stages
开云体育Hi Yvonne, this is a difficult question that a number of us have been discussing offline. To me, the big issue is that fundamentally, you are asking if nodes increased their degree. This means, you are asking whether density increased between T1 and T2. Ie., there are simply more ties. So, if the reason for this is not artifactual, I would approach that via ? Snijders, T. A., & Borgatti, S. P. (1999). Non-parametric standard errors and tests for network statistics.?Connections,?22(2), 161-170. ? This is a method of comparing densities. It is implemented in UCINET. ? As you point out, a t-test of any kind would seem inappropriate because of non-independence. If node A increases degree by 1, then so does the node that A connected to. ? Help Reg. Partitioning Data
Hello All,

I am performing a Weighted Correlation Network Analysis (WCNA) where the correlation coefficients across a set of variables are used as the tie strength for their correlational network. I have performed a Principal Component Analysis on the data (in SPSS) to get the factor structure of the variable set. The PCA result shows that the 31 variables can be grouped into 8 components.?

Now I want to run UCINet to perform the following:
I understand that a partition file needs to be created with the 31 variables and their respective attributes. Somehow, I am unable to execute the process.?

Please help me with the steps!

LR-QAP Relational effect
HI,
?
Maybe I'm looking wrong, I'm not finding the help file for LR-QAP in general. Ok, you test one way or another and in the end, you can understand the best use of the resource. However, the relational effects are not easy to interpret without a help file. Somewhere in this forum, I found:
?
? Reciprocity effect
– If j likes i at T2, then predict that i will like j at T3 ? So create matrix X1 in which X1(i,j) = 1 if T2(j,i) = 1 ? Transitivity effect (closure)
– If, at T2, i likes j and j likes k, then predict that at T3 i will like k. ? Create matrix X2 where X2(i,j) = 1 if (T2(i,j) =1 and T2(j,k) = 1)* ? Preferential attachment effect
– If T2 indegree is high, predict that all nodes will want to have a tie – X3(I,j) = indegree(j) ?
Can anyone enlighten me if the logic of the resource is as described above?
?
tnx,
?
