skywarn training
Copy of email from NWS Shreveport regarding Skywarn training. NWS Shreveport Partners, Now that we are into the New Year, we'll soon be approaching our spring severe weather season. That means it's time for the Spring 2021 Skywarn Training Season. Unfortunately, due to ongoing COVID restrictions, we will not be able to conduct in-person classes. Therefore, we are going to handle this season much like last fall. We will conduct four virtual classes. Two will use Facebook Live and will not require pre-registration. Two will use GoToMeeting and will require pre-registration. The dates are listed below. These four classes all start at 7pm Central Time.
Based on the live viewership from our past virtual classes, we decided that doing a few areawide, all-inclusive classes would be better and probably have better attendance than doing many virtual classes targeting specific groups of counties/parishes. However, we do recognize that some groups, such as our law enforcement and fire/rescue folks, may need special classes for their organizations to fulfill annual?training requirements. If needed, we can conduct one of these virtual classes during normal business hours. If you are part of these organizations and need to schedule a special class with us outside of one of the dates listed above, please fill out this??and either Charlie Woodrum or myself will get in touch with you. All of us here at the National Weather Service in Shreveport greatly value our relationships and partnerships with you. I don't think I can emphasize enough how much we truly rely on you folks in the field who provide us valuable ground truth information, whether it's damage reports or snow reports, and for helping to spread the word to promote weather safety before and during hazardous weather. Thank you for everything and for being so understanding as we continue to navigate these difficult times. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate?to email myself or Warning Coordination Meteorologist?Charlie Woodrum. Sincerely, Chris Nuttall -- Chris Nuttall Lead Forecaster SKYWARN Coordinator National Weather Service Shreveport, LA Office: 318-631-3669 |
