abapi installation

Running pip install abapi gives the error message Defaulting to user installation because normal site-packages is not writeable ERROR: Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement abapi (from versions: none) ERROR: No matching distribution found for abapi (this is on a intel mac book pro, with python 2.7 and python 3.8.2, pip 22.0.3) Anybody know what is going on? thanks, Eric
