Unable to connect

 

It's about 11:45 EST on a Friday night (2-5-21). I'm unable to connect through IB gateway or the mobile app. Is it normal for IB to be down during this time? Is there a schedule of times the server is down for maintenance?

Hi Mark,

This is normal to experience daily outages around midnight especially weekends. I also can not connect for the last 30-40 minutes. IB has this??page, which right now says: "Due to scheduled system maintenance, clients will be unable to connect through our web, mobile, and TWS platforms."

Also they have similar status page:

which suggests Friday outage can start around 11 PM eastern time all the way down to 3 AM (4 hours window).

There are four main computing centers operating around the globe; two in the U.S, one in Europe and one in Hong Kong. New customers are automatically assigned to one of these server facilities based upon their location and/or trading preferences.

  1. The reset period describes the duration during which your account may be unavailable for a few seconds. It does not indicate that the entire system will be unavailable for the full reset period. During a reset period, there may be an interruption in the ability to log in or manage orders. Existing orders (native types) will operate normally although execution reports and simulated orders will be delayed until the reset is complete.
  2. During the Friday evening reset period, all services will be unavailable in all regions for the duration of the reset.
