TWS: Your connection was lost. Would you like to re-login? Re-login Exit Application
I've been getting this TWS message.? I'm assuming it's not an API error.
Your connection was lost. Would you like to re-login? Re-login? Exit Application All I have to do is click the Re-login button.? But I can't bc I'm trading CL, GC and ES unattended (and sleeping Sunday night) 24X7, which means starting Sunday evening and running continuously til Fri at 5 pm EST. Am I the only one getting this?? Am I the only one trading thru Sunday night? I've received this post almost always Sunday night/Monday morning, BOTH Paper and Prod accounts. I've checked and the last time I can find that this was addressed was post? #34058 Aug 2015 Richard, is there any to investigate this again to see if IBC can help? Josh - any input from IBKR?? This is almost certainly the once a week IB initiated forced shutdown. God only knows why they force a reconnect, but it's been discussed here before and that was the general conclusion. IBC might be able to help you out here, depending on whether or not you use 2 factor auth. Since that situation happened to me as well, I wanted to find the cause so I can avoid it. Here what I've found: Sunday came, so you log into IB through TWS or Gateway, BUT once you've logged, you should avoid accessing your account either by phone or in the website, even if you think that turning off data it'll be good enough to not interfere with your working apps ( tws or gateway ).? I've realized after many re-login situations, that whenever I didn't do any additional login into my account, the problem didn't pop any longer. I hope it can help |
IB Gateway/TWS are designed to be able to run Sunday-Sunday without re-authenticating. If you need to login to Client Portal or another trading application during that time you just need to use a different live username. Otherwise, if you login with the same username in a different application, the session token will expire and IB Gateway/TWS will present the "Re-Login" dialogue box after the next disconnection (such as the server reset).?

Is that right? I find that TWS and IB Gateway (latest and beta versions) both terminate daily at 11:45PM and, though TWS has an "Auto restart" option under Configuration->Lock and Exit, IB Gateway does not. I remember being able to run the IB Gateway from Sunday to Sunday in the past but not anymore. Now, it looks like it needs to be restarted and reauthenticated daily. Is this correct? |
Josh, Why? Can they not stay running?? It's not security because they don't reauthenticate, so there's something else going on. This week on Sunday it did ask for the "Button" to be pressed to reconnect. But, if my memory serves me, it was during the day on Sunday, not in the middle of the night. Don't know if IB changed anything.? Hope they did, I can live with a Sunday during-the-day re-login and machine trade thru the night. One more Sunday with the reconnect during the day and IB (and me, of course) can make a bit of money on my Sunday night futures trades! Thanks, as always, Lou Duidka |
Ok, rebooted my Win7 on Saturday, so I just logged into TWS then.? Didn't bother to do it on Sunday.
Happened to be up tonight and got Re-Login button for prod at about 12:15 AM and test about 12:30 AM. Josh,?? I thought if we logged in and out over the weekend we wouldn't get this?? Does it have to be Sunday night? Thanks, as always, Lou Dudka |
