TWS option "Never Lock Trader Workstation" no longer available in version 10.26 ?

After upgrading Trader Workstation software recently, the Global option "Never Lock Trader Workstation" is no longer available. Now the only option available is "Lock Trader Workstation after 30 minutes of Inactivity".

I wonder if other users have the same experience after upgrade ?
The version I have after upgrade is : Build 10.26.1i, Dec 5, 2023

I still see the option. I have same version you mentioned.

Thanks for sharing. Unluckily I could not get "Never Lock TWS" in 10.26.

I un-installed 10.26, and went back to 10.24, and the "Never Lock TWS" appeared in Global Config again.
I just wonder why the upgrade would take away the "Never Lock TWS" option ?

I am sure a lot of Day Trader would prefer "Never Lock", especially in urgent situation, a locked TWS is the last thing you want to deal with before you could carry out a trade.

I am not prepared yet to believe, that IBKR removed the "Never Lock" feature for TWS:
  • There is no mention in TWS Release Notes
  • Just like @biney59 indicated, 10.26.1i Dec 5 2023 and 10.26.1j Jan 3 2024 still show the option for me. To be precise, I checked Linux standalone versions running on the Java JVM that came with TWS.

You might want to reach out to IBKR for diagnosis or clarification. TWS is a highly dynamic application, JavaFX forms and menus are constructed on the fly, and I can envision situations where a local issue could prevent forms from being created correctly. But there would most definitely be an entry in TWS logs that IBKR could look at.

Well, there does seems to be a new feature indeed. The most recent TWS release note now says:

IB-HK Account Users Only
To meet Compliance requirements, users with an IB-HK account will not be able to disable the TWS 30 minute session timeout. For other entities, this feature can be managed via Global Configuration from the Lock & Exit page.

It would no doubt create a lot of inconvenience for Day Traders, because it means that every time the Trader want to enter a trade, he has to enter the password to un-lock TWS !!!?
And I find that when TWS is locked, the API is also locked, which stopped the data flow to the program !
I just wonder what kind of Compliance requirement is that ?

Since today I'm experiencing the same as the OP although I haven't changed anything. I didn't update my TWS nor am I customer of IB-HK.

Anybody else with the same problem?

Which TWS version are you using?

I can confirm that my "latest" standalone LINUX TWS 10.29.1f and Windows Beta 10.30.0i are now missing the "File --> Global Configuration --> Lock and Exit --> Never lock Trader Workstation" option and I can only select an inactivity lock period of 30 min or less (US account, connected to ndc1).

The LINUX "stable" version 10.19.2m still has the option "Never Lock Trader Workstation".

TWS release notes do not mention the feature removal. I am wondering whether this is an unintended regression. Probably worth a question-ticket for IBKR.

With 10.28.1e for Windows I also cannot change anymore in: File -> Global Configuration -> Lock and Exit the "Auto logoff" to "Auto restart".
This setting is fixed as well as "Lock Trader Workstation" after xx minutes.
Will make TWS close to unusable. Have an IB-IE account.
Also have no idea what the button: File -> Global Configuration -> "Some options are hidden ..." and its message "... associated feature is disabled via the feature selector" wants to tell us.

Someone at IBKR must have burped the servers during the night. The "Lock and Exit" configuration on both TWS I mentioned below is back to normal now (as in the "Never Lock" option is back)

Yes, a few hours later it magically reappeared also for me. Kept me awake a whole hour in the middle of the night. Shit what I got stressed about the implications :-)
