TWS startup parameters

Are there any? It's not an API question but sometimes I'd like a completely different layout to do some research or try out different features without messing up my "standard" layout.

I realize I can save and load specific layouts but the default behaviour of exiting and saving the current layout means I need to manually manage the whole process.

As far as I know, you cannot do what you want to do.

User settings are stored in a local directory and nothing prevents you from having multiple folders with different settings and layouts.

To set the folder on the command line:

tws -J-DjtsConfigDir=/path/to/folder

Also, it's convenient to uncheck "Use/store settings on server" in the login screen in order to start with a clean slate.

I noticed that in the properties when TWS installs an icon on the desktop. From the start menu (Windows 10) there isn't a properties option so I guess it's buried in the registry.

The "starting" directory has two randomly named directories. One is for paper trading and one is for live trading.

I wonder what other parameters are available.
