Thanks for sharing. Unluckily I could not get "Never Lock TWS" in 10.26.
I un-installed 10.26, and went back to 10.24, and the "Never Lock TWS" appeared in Global Config again.

You raised a valid concern about a reason it may not work. Real-Time is not free.
This is an issue to be seen with IBKR.
