Onan Cummins Microlite 2800 carb question

I want to replace my roughly 1990 carb following two unsuccessful cleaning attempts. Plenty of these p/n 146-0705 carbs are for sale on Amazon and EBay but every one, including the one I received from Amazon, are designed to hook onto the choke linkage at a different angle than my original carb. The choke linkage on my 2800 generator comes from behind the carb (the solenoid and linkage are directly back behind the carb) whereas all the new replacement carbs expect the choke linkage to come from the right side of the carb. In other words the choke linkage rod runs parallel to the throttle rod on newer Microlite 2800’s. Where can I buy the older style carb like mine where the choke and throttle linkage run 90 degrees offset from each other? ?A frustrated Dolphin and its owner thank you in advance.?

Three are shops/places where you can have it re built, might be easier than getting a new one.

Is there a model number on the generator? Help to locate exact one. Also, a link to the ones that don't fit so I can compare

They are not serviceable, they either work or you buy a new one.? $40.00

Saw a pair of brand new Champion 2500 W generators for sale on Craigslist for $350 each and snapped one up.? So the pressure is off regarding troubleshooting the Onan 2800 for the upcoming trip.? And now we've got a convenient 'brownout generator' for the home fridge etc.? But I will keep looking at the Onan and will relay what gremlin I finally find in it.? He's an elusive little critter.

--when you get to it, check the crankcase breather for stuff blocking it.? if the case gets pressurized, there will be no vacuum, so no fuel air flow. acts like a bad carb

Follow up. I put in a new $28 carburetor and the generator is purring along! ?Of course before doing that replacement I tried the easy things including a new properly gapped plug, confirmed fuel delivery, new oil at proper level, proper spark, Seafoam, you name it. Even tried poking a fine wire up into the old carburetor. Nothing helped. So changed the carburetor out and that did the trick.?

RZ Where is the crankcase breather? ?And how do I assess a “blockage”? Easily done visually?

The 2800 generator with its brand new carburetor and fuel filter ran perfectly for perhaps three accumulated hours but now it’s back to its maddening intermittent behavior once again. Everything has been changed out and checked. I’ll try substituting an external fuel source but I’m at my wits end with this. Too many hours. Too many disappointments while camping, like right now. Just use a totally reliable portable generator instead. Giant mobile paperweight.?

the hose off the top of the spec plac.? remove the hose clamp, the other end where it goes into the air filter housing is the same as a wiring grommet. just wiggle it out

Just curious how you're carrying the Champion 2500W generator with the Onan still in place.? Or did you remove the Onan and put the Champion there?
