Gas tank capacity?

Got caught on a long stretch of highway with no gas stations... Finally one showed up... we took on 15.27 gallons... wondering how close we where to running out of gas. Has anyone tested with an empty tank?

The standard Toyota RV tank is 17.2 gallons.? Some Sunraders have a 26 gal tank which was a factory option.

Thanks... the needle was a bit below the empty mark... good to know there is another 2 gallons in tank. Not that I like running it down that far... it's nerve racking.

I've pushed my 3.0 45 miles past dead empty several times.? Chickened out at that point,? but think there's about a gallon left. Unofficial reserve lol

What engine do you have?? Some folks don't realize that the 4 cyl 22r(e) models have an idiot light that comes on when the gas is low.? We can go about 25 miles?in ours?after the light comes on.? Unfortunately, in the V-6 model this feature was left off.? Go figure.?

The problem with running it nearly dry is if you have crap in the bottom of your gas tank you run the risk of pulling that into your engine.

not likely anything gets by the fuel filter, but changing it can be a problem

What do you think of a product like berryman or sea foam?

No fuel treatment is going to dissolve chunks. And no the fuel filter is not in jeopardy from running it dry. The fuel pump however is.
Inside the tank and the only thing protecting it from debris is literally a sock that might have already degraded to nothing. We do have another not too difficult option. Our tanks have a drain. By draining the tank and flushing 5 gallons through it with the drain open you will see some bad gunk come out. Only other option is completely removing the tank and have it professionally cleaned big job and expensive. I strained all that gas with another sock, aka paint straining bag and put it back in.
I hadn't been having problems but at the time I was commuting once a month to a job 6 hours away. Time constraints and very remote roads meant there were times when I needed to push my fuel limits father than I would have liked. Worked though, never ran out.

I’ve experienced the same. The gas gage is a bit past the empty line, fill it up at a station and you can see it had two gallons of reserve.

My shorty has one of those 26 gallon tanks now, which I swapped out of another sunrader I once had before selling it.? A couple of days ago I drove into a gas station, shut off the engine, and put 26.2 gallons in it.?
