Finding new tires for 1991 toyhouse V6
Where is the best place to find new tires for the 1991 toyhouse?
I'm running 185R14C load range D (vs the normal load range C).? The tires are in good shape but getting old and I'm considering replacing them next year before I start on a monthlong trip to Minnesota and Tennessee and back.? Looking around the net, I couldn't find anything that matched exactly.? Seems I read somewhere that tires for these things are getting harder to find. I haven't yet asked any of the local tire shops but wanted to get a good idea on what's available and the prices which prompted me to look around the net. Rick in NH |
Hey Rick doing the same search.? We had Yokohama 356,? i believe, installed approx 29k ago,? and they're getting tired.? Turns out they weren't rotating front to back. 4 rears are ok. Front two not. Or maybe 30k is life expectancy for rv tires, idk.?Was pretty happy with this brand,? and it's highly recommended in the TMC group.? There are limited options, but Big O, Les Schwab, etc can order them in. Hankook Vantra? is another popular choice from what I've read. The Yokohama I have now are about $132 each,? which hurts lol. Tires are available online for the best prices and most of the companies ship for free. Some will ship directly to the tire installer you choose.
The only one I don't recommend is Simple Tire. A member of another group bought some there recently and they were very old tires. Too old to even be installed where I live in California. Good places I have personally used Linda S |
Walmart shows that size in Hankook tires.

I also don't recommend Yokohama tires. Another member bought a rig new to him and got it with a receipt for the Yokohama tires only 2 or 3 years old. 3 blew out on his drive home. Lots of other people were in the same boat and since they are still recalling commercial tires several years later it looks like they never fixed the problem. We drive on commercial tires.

Thanks to all for all the advice and pointers.? I looked at Priority Tire and see that they have plenty of load-range-D (8-ply rating) at reasonable prices.
I'm currently running Hankook 185R14C (I gather that the "C" means "Commercial").? They are load range D rated for 65 PSI.? I run them at 60PSI and it does seem like it runs a bit better than at the normal 50 PSI using load range C tires. These tires have plenty of rubber left on them but they are coming up on 12 years old which I recall reading somewhere is the maximum recommended age beyond which they should be replaced.? Hence we're considering that before we start on our long trip next year. I'd be perfectly happy sticking with the Hankooks, we have had zero issues with them. |
