Current market value of these toyhouses

I've read as many of the past threads here as I can find on the topic of market value of these toyhouses but it appears that some things may have changed in the last year or two, in particular demand for these toyhouses may be up while supply is way down.

So, what is the current thinking on the topic of how to value these things?

Ours is a 1991 Warrior, V6 auto, in good shape, no rust, new fridge, everything works except the heater isn't very reliable.? Total miles is 61,000 +/-.? It gets 13-14 mpg.? No leaks that I can find.

It's currently insured for $8500 and I'm thinking that might be a bit low.? I'm setting up a meeting with our insurance agent to go over all of our insurance needs (home and other vehicles besides the toyhouse) and am looking to perhaps raise coverage (but by how much?).

I'm having trouble finding a website that will provide a "book" value for that year and model.? The only one I've found is J. D. Power, no NADA and no Kelly Blue Book.? J. D. Power claims a current average retail "book" value of just $2710 which of course is ridiculous.? Most of the asking prices on places like RV Trader seem to range from $10K up to $18K with some outliers a lot higher and somewhat lower than that.? But of course, we know those are "asking" prices and not necessarily "getting" prices.

I was able to get my 87 21' sunrader insured for $25k...I think I had to give them receipts for all the work that has been done to upgrade it.

I have never had a claim on my motorhome but I dont really think there is a connection between what you insure it for and the payout they will pay when you file a claim.? ?I own and manage several real estate rental properties and I have always had much difficulty it getting claims paid.? ? If anyone here has thoughts on how the insurance industry works with RVs? and things we should and should not do please share.

?Insurance is pretty much equal to legalized rape or robbery in my book. Pay for what you wont get. They will find every '' reasonable'' way to reduce their payout.? ?Pay them for what they will NOT provide............

I am a retired insurance agent. My experience is that most insurance buyers are only interested in price when but what they should be concerned with is insurance that fits their needs.? Sit down with a reputable agent and convey your needs and then have the agent go over your coverage so you know what is and is not covered.? When I have a claim I am not surprised.

Our 87 Seabreeze purchase was $6K usd, had 37K miles, mint for most purposes, that be in 2006, now has 65k miles garage parked, and I can not find a quote or appraisal to put a valve on it for insurance reasons. Can anyone suggest a place, or company that can appraise our toys in Alberta Canada.
Yes we agree that insurance is a bottomless money pit, we only run PL & Pd, knowing that my driving is excellent and only worry about the other guy's driving ability. Thanks for advice ahead of time. Have a good summer ...Bruce

To be sure you get a payout from an insurance company that is as much as the RV is worth if it is totaled (like if a tree falls on it), ?then you get what is called an “agreed value” policy. ? You pay higher premiums based on a higher than average “agreed value,” (like maybe $100 per year), but it is so worth it for thousands more in payout if you ever need it. ?We got our agreed value policy from National General Insurance through Camping World. ?As an added bonus, their policies let you suspend the liability portion of the policy if the RV is in storage for at least 30 days. ?Although the monthly premium is higher, when it is not, if you don’t use your RV full time, the overall cost per year is lower. ?

For anyone who is seeking to substantiate a value for insurance purposes that is higher than average, it is wise to keep a file of Toyota RVs that have sold for higher prices (i.e. “Comps”). ?

Here is one that was very nicely restored.?

Absolutely.? When Dave's Sunrader 4x4 was in a major accident I Sent him some Ebay sales I had saved. Insurance company went from low balling to covering every bit of the damage. Helped that Dave also had receipts for over 20,000 in upgrades. Keep records of everything?
