Compressor for rear air bags, 1991 Warrior
Anyone have experience with or recommendations for an air compressor for the rear air bags, maybe something with a gauge that mounts in the cab, and either automatic on-off to keep the bags pumped up, or a switch next to the gauge to turn the compressor on and off?
Currently I carry a Ryobi air compressor and have to crawl down and pump up the bags every few days which is mildly annoying, and I'd prefer something I can control from the cab. Thanks... |

We have an 87 Toyota Seabreeze, I ran into the same issue as one of my rear airbags had a slow leak, I did worry about using the airbags to level each side, so
connected both to a tee and then into a pressure switch, which turns off a contact switch at 60 psi, and on at 30 psi. The switch is similar to ones on compressor and is adjustable between I believe 20psi to 100 psi. The switch runs a small 12-volt compressor
and I have an off/on toggle switch to turn my system on/off when not needed, also usually turn it off for the night sleeping. Located it just behind the wheel well on the passenger side where the small door is, close to the fridge. The only additional thing
I need to do is run the power 12V supply from when the engine is running somehow, then you don't forget to turn it off/on when needed. The compressor switch came from China (ebay) and finding one for a lower range psi took a bit of searching. Hope this helps,
we like this way much better. Have a good summer, Bruce

Air bags are often installed with a shrader (air inlet like one that's on your tires) valve, inline with each?? airbag separately. They are often mounted on the side of rig, close to one of the rear tires. That won't let you change the pressure from the cab, but would be a much less complicated add on if yours doesn't have them. In cab would be ideal, but... |
