GVWR: Toyota 21' with 22RE Auto Trans

Hello Group:

I have some concerns. Inside my truck AND in the manual the GVWR =
5,500 lbs (Dual Wheels)

I have the good 1 ton rear axle (6 bolts on both front and rear).

Well, I took it and got it weighed.....with JUST me and a full tank
of gas, it weighs 5,580. I'm 80 lbs over with virtually NOTHING in
it!!!! Has anyone else weighed theirs?

OR, can anyone with the same length Toyota check what their GVWR is?
Thanks, Britt

Britt,

I guess you are going to have to lose a little weight and travel alone.
Sorry just kidding, but your question makes a good point that we are
generally overweight or damn close. Does it mean your rig is going to break?
No not with the good axle, but it does mean that braking distances are not
ideal and that we must handle our rigs with extra care and that we should
travel with empty fresh water and gray and black water tanks.
