More advice needed

I found an ad for a 1984 Toyota Sunrader. What can you tell me about
this model? I am really new to this RV thing and am looking for my
first camper. All the ad says is fiberglass body, sleeps 4, full bath,
15 mpg, great shape. They are asking $6000. I need to be able to ask
some intelligent questions when I call. It's about 250 miles from me
so I want to ask questions before I would go look at it. All help is
appreciated.

84 is a Sunrader axle recall year. Be sure the axle has been upgraded. If it
has not, walk. That would be way too much for a bad axle rig. Be aware the
84 is not fuel injected so you are going to have less than 100 horses
pulling your rig. If you are in a hurry or get bothered by occasionally
slowing traffic you might want to think about another rig. If you aren't in
a hurry and the rig has been upgraded to the one ton floating rear axle and
every thing checks out, by all means plop your money down and purchase the
"cadilac of toyota rvs" a Sunrader.

Sandhill?

Read the Archives of this list before you call.

Axles and Transmissions are the key things you
need to be aware of.

Check the AC and Refer by having the the seller turn
them on before you get there.

Unit is priced about 1k high for an 84. BTW my book shows
the 22re for 1984.

Sandhill.

Read the Archives.

Look out for wrong axles and dubious auto trans.

Listen for timing chain noise on start up.

Have the seller turn on the refer and air-
con and have them running when you get there.

Read the Archives.

Hey Jack what does timing chan noise sound like? How is it different
from a knocking noise before the oil gets to parts of the engine?
Thanks, Pete PS Put a mp3 or wav on the file section.
