Hi Owen,

I changes the O2 sensor on my 4 cyl engine, and it was the easiest
job I have done on the truck. I would highly recommend soaking the
bolts in liquid wrench for an hour or so before you attempt to
remove them. Mine came right off. The sensor is located on the
lower portion of the exhaust manifold. Very convenient to get at.

I re-caulked my windows with this new '50 year' silicon caulk on
the advice of another RV'er. If it works I will be 112 years old
before I have to do it again.

Good luck with your camper.

Jack R.

Dick:

It looks like your computer's system clock is set to the year 2000 instead
of
2001. I noticed this on all messages you sent out. You can check/adjust it
by
double-clicking on the time readout on Windows. If your date is right,
then
check with your ISP's mail forwarder.

Regards,

Rod

Hello All,

Well it's getting warmer here in Michigan and we are getting ready for
our trip by tuning up the RV this weeekend. I will let you all know
how the tune-up goes.

I bought an O2 sensor ($31) and have not yet looked at where it is
located on the exhaust manifold, but have question....what is the best
way to get the 2 bolts off that hold the O2 sensor to the manifold?
(heat....or.....liquid wrench)

We have a 21ft Granville....has anyone ever heard of this brand?? It
has a bathroom in the back and the door to get in is on the side of
the RV.

What is the best kind of caulk to buy for making sure that we
experience no leaks?

Good traveling to you all.....

Owen

Owen,

I would use Liquid Wrench first, Best to wait overnight for it to work if
you got the time. If it doesn't come easy use heat and Liquid Wrench. Don't
set your rig on fire! The guy who is a good guy at the RV place close to me
says to use the silicone calking that they sell. He says most of the
silicones sold at the hardware stores will break in rv use. I have found
that is true. You may be able to find a simular formulation at the hardware
but I don't know what it would be.

You didn't say what engine you have or the year???

If you have the 22Re I can help, as I put a new o2
sensor in my 86 (22re) a couple of months ago.

From other Toyota lists, I found out that after market
O2 sensors fail quickly or do not work well. Appparently
the only one that's any good at all is the Bosch.
Thats what I put in mine and it seems to be fine as
it has improved my Idle and my MPG.

However, the price difference between the Bosch at $30
and the Toyota dealer part at around $120, scares me.
I long ago learned that you usually get what you pay for.

Now the good news. When the factory installed the O2
sensors they used plenty of anti seize. The nuts will
come off easy. Be sure and use anti seize when you
put the new one in as you may have to change it again
soon.
