Re: Propane tank gauge reads low doesn't accept propane? AND entry step rusting.
Please post a picture of the gauge so we see what you're dealing with. There is a float valve in the tank that shuts off propane fill, perhaps the gauge is broken and your tank is nearly full even though the gauge says otherwise.? Aaron from Colorado? |
Re: anode rod
Only the Suburban uses an anode rod. I'm assuming you have the 6 gallon water heater. These anodes are readily available on various websites. I would try eBay. Your water heater may be by a different name before Suburban purchased the company. But the square door models are Suburban types, and the rectangular door models are Attwood types. The Attwood types supposedly have aluminum tanks and don't need anode rods. Aaron from Colorado? |
Propane tank gauge reads low doesn't accept propane? AND entry step rusting.
My '88 Sunrader is starting to reveal her age, the entry step is sagging towards the ground, rusty and very iffy.? Also, have visited two propane distributers after two trips but both sessions ended by only adding 1/2 gallon (one nice guy didn't charge me!).? The meter reads nearly empty (I do not remember when I last filled the tank but it was in storage for nearly a year).? His suggestion is to let it run out but it can be very cold on the coast when I enjoy camping and would miss my heat and frig.? Do gauges break or stop working?? I do have a RV shop in town but thought I would ask this great group first.
All advice is welcomed.? Happy camping!? Diana on the Oregon Coast |

Re: Vent Cap
I use this for my black tank: Keeps air moving when parked and works pretty well. You want to get rid of the old base and cut the pipe to size to fit. Then screw it down and cover it with dicor. Easy breezy. On Fri, Oct 6, 2023 at 2:30?PM Linda S via <fly12fire=[email protected]> wrote: This cap has spring fittings that lock into you plumbing pipe. It will fit virtually anything |
Re: Vent Cap
Ebay is always an option, take some research though.??

Hi Y'all, The 1992 Itasca rear bath went on her first trip, and came back missing a vent cap -- guess it's somewhere rolling around in NC now! I haven't been able to find a cap that fits this base, anyone here have an idea? I keep finding ones with eight little pegs, and this has four clip looking attachments. Thank you! |

1990 Odyssey Starlite for sale, $3500

I've had this camper since 2008 and it's been great, I'm just not using it anymore.? It's a really unique vehicle, great for one or two people (I was told I should mention it's best for people on the smaller side).? I've gotten so many compliments on it.? In the process of getting it ready to sell, I had it at the mechanics, and one time I went to start it and it made a banging noise!? He said it was most likely a valve.? He found an engine from a friend and says it's a buildable core.? So that comes with it.? I did recently replace the fabric in the pop top area.? Everything works, it's a 3 way fridge.? Someone along the way removed the bathroom.? I do have the cushions that go with the table in back.? I apologize that the inside kind of looks a mess, I still need to clean it up, the mechanic wants it out of his way so I'm going ahead and advertising. It's located an hour south of Tucson AZ.? ?Here are some pics:?https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ym7MSQyTkCV6kKBF7

Re: Gas tank capacity?
No fuel treatment is going to dissolve chunks. And no the fuel filter is not in jeopardy from running it dry. The fuel pump however is.
Inside the tank and the only thing protecting it from debris is literally a sock that might have already degraded to nothing. We do have another not too difficult option. Our tanks have a drain. By draining the tank and flushing 5 gallons through it with the drain open you will see some bad gunk come out. Only other option is completely removing the tank and have it professionally cleaned big job and expensive. I strained all that gas with another sock, aka paint straining bag and put it back in. I hadn't been having problems but at the time I was commuting once a month to a job 6 hours away. Time constraints and very remote roads meant there were times when I needed to push my fuel limits father than I would have liked. Worked though, never ran out. Linda S |

What do you think of a product like berryman or sea foam? On Thu, Oct 5, 2023, 9:09 AM rz <zaveson@...> wrote: not likely anything gets by the fuel filter, but changing it can be a problem |
