Re: Gas tank capacity?

The standard Toyota RV tank is 17.2 gallons.? Some Sunraders have a 26 gal tank which was a factory option.

Gas tank capacity?

Got caught on a long stretch of highway with no gas stations... Finally one showed up... we took on 15.27 gallons... wondering how close we where to running out of gas. Has anyone tested with an empty tank?

Re: RV Covers

Dave your Sunrader is 18ft. Did it grow?

What's the best cover for a 4x4 Sunrader 21' that works in deep snow and high altitude bright sunshine? Live in the Colorado mountains.

Re: 85 Sunrader pipe drain valve question

I was going to say just lay something on top of it. The ones I’m using don’t turn that easy, nothing to worry about. But Linda has a perfect solution. A little zip tie will solve the problem. Using mine though, you might have to staple the zip tie to the floor each year, or hold it down with a washer under a screw, because I think the handle goes perpendicular to the water line…or maybe crossing?diagonally?over the water line would do it.?

Let us know what you end up doing.

Re: 85 Sunrader pipe drain valve question

Good idea!?

I was pretty sure he wouldn't have an answer cause there isn't one. They do make locks but all for much larger valves. I don't think you should worry about it. Those valves should be in a fairly protected place anyway.? How about just a zip tie under the pipe and around the turn handle. Don't do it too tight but it should limit it from moving too much

Good to know. Do you know where we can find that? Thank you!?

You can get a plastic device to lock the lever-type valve closed.

If you think such a thing exists, you should at least show an example or include a link. .

The turn ones are your only option. Haven't seen pull up ones for sale for many years.?

Re: 85 Sunrader pipe drain valve question

there may be several different drains that are used when winterizing the water system:
pumps, tanks, water heater and lines, and toilet and drains. I forget what I had on my
camping trailer, but it is important you do it all correctly and use non toxic anti freeze.

85 Sunrader pipe drain valve question

Our pipes burst this winter. Grrr... what we have discovered in the process of replacing some of the pipes, there are 2 pull drain valves under the bathroom sink. All that needs to be done is pull the valve and the water drains out of the pipes for winterizing. We had no idea and of course they were damaged in the freeze.?

We'd like to replace them but can only find ones with a turn lever rather than the pull valve. Our concern about the turn lever is that if something hits the lever, conceivably, all of our water could drain before we realize what has happened. Appreciate any thoughts or help finding replacement pull valves. Thanks all! Karen

Re: Finding new tires for 1991 toyhouse V6

Thanks to all for all the advice and pointers.? I looked at Priority Tire and see that they have plenty of load-range-D (8-ply rating) at reasonable prices.

I'm currently running Hankook 185R14C (I gather that the "C" means "Commercial").? They are load range D rated for 65 PSI.? I run them at 60PSI and it does seem like it runs a bit better than at the normal 50 PSI using load range C tires.

These tires have plenty of rubber left on them but they are coming up on 12 years old which I recall reading somewhere is the maximum recommended age beyond which they should be replaced.? Hence we're considering that before we start on our long trip next year.

I'd be perfectly happy sticking with the Hankooks, we have had zero issues with them.

Re: Finding new tires for 1991 toyhouse V6

I also don't recommend Yokohama tires. Another member bought a rig new to him and got it with a receipt for the Yokohama tires only 2 or 3 years old. 3 blew out on his drive home. Lots of other people were in the same boat and since they are still recalling commercial tires several years later it looks like they never fixed the problem. We drive on commercial tires.

Walmart shows that size in Hankook tires.

I'm running 185R14C load range D (vs the normal load range C). The tires are in good shape but getting old and I'm considering replacing them next year before I start on a monthlong trip to Minnesota and Tennessee and back. Looking around the net, I couldn't find anything that matched exactly. Seems I read somewhere that tires for these things are getting harder to find.

I haven't yet asked any of the local tire shops but wanted to get a good idea on what's available and the prices which prompted me to look around the net.
