WinSpectrum III spectrum analyzer application designed for Windows users working with Tiny SA Ultra+
Fair enough, least not vulnerable being kept off the internet. I believe Win10 support finishes up soon. Cheers Dave On Mon, 24 Mar 2025, 1:45?pm John Cunliffe W7ZQ via , <w7zq=[email protected]> wrote:

? Tested on Windows XP (Virtual Machine) If you're working in a legacy environment or testing on older systems, this version should work without issues. ? The required STMicroelectronics VCP driver (VID_0483, PID_5740) is already included in the ZIP package. |
I played around with a win7 computer in XP mode the 32bit version and my original ultra.
?
Markers do not work at all, no matter what information entered.
?
The curser does not stay hidden and shows up every time there is a change, to fix it one has to uncheck the curser and? then re-check it.
?
The points seem to be fixed at 460 or less? no matter if it is single sweep or continues sweep.
?
I could not get the waterfall to work, activating the function just freezes everything.
?
There have been a few strange disconnects during the testing that I have not yet associated with a special combination of commands.
?
That said, I like the large display it is easy on my old eyes given time, this could evolve into something nice and useful.

I am a reader, not a sender of messages, usually.
However the Windows application sounds (is sound the correct word for a written message?) very useful. What might make it even more useful is to run it on XP (howls of laughter …..), or at least Win7. I have a large pile of old notebooks and laptops which cannot be used, as much of the useful software will not run on such an ancient platform. I am sure that we all have “old” laptops in a cupboard somewhere. Using this application on an otherwise redundant device also would not take up so much workbench space and be much more portable and cheaper. Heaven forbid if one eventually managed to fit the SA into a floppy disk slot (with the two sma connectors accessible). Stephen Laurence. G7PSZ |
WinSpectrum III v3.0.1.1 – Update & Fixes
Some users reported that nothing was displayed on the graph when using tinySA (basic). The issue was caused by WinSpectrum's default scan setting of 450 points, which the tinySA (basic) does not support (it has a 290-point limit). Fixed in version 3.0.1.1: WinSpectrum III now detects tinySA (basic) failure when the number of points exceeds 290, adjusts the scan to 290 points, and correctly displays the graph—no user intervention required.
Additionally, this update includes several improvements and fixes:
? Added LNA on/off command.
? Start/Stop Frequencies are now displayed at the bottom of the graph. ? Fixed logfile reading issue. ? Various marker-related fixes and improvements. ? Added Delta calculation for markers. Tested successfully on tinySA (basic) version 1.4-40, tinySA Ultra (non plus) version 1.4-156 and tinySA Ultra+ versions 1.4-196 and 1.4.197.
About the marker's 'Tolerance' field
Some users may wonder why WinSpectrum III includes a Tolerance (%) setting for peak markers when this parameter is not explicitly found in most VNAs, Spectrum Analyzers, or tinySA devices. This feature is not mandatory and does not modify the raw measurement data. Instead, it is an optional tool that helps locate peaks within a user-defined range rather than just a single frequency point.
For example, if a peak frequency is set to 10 MHz with a 5% tolerance, WinSpectrum will search for the highest peak within the 9.5 MHz to 10.5 MHz range, rather than just at 10 MHz. This can be useful in cases where signals fluctuate slightly due to environmental factors or device tolerances.
The goal of this feature is to make peak identification more flexible and user-friendly, especially when dealing with noisy signals or spectral variations. Of course, if users prefer a fixed peak frequency search, they can simply ignore this setting.

Hi Juan & Xavier,
?
It seems it connect to the tinySA (basic) but it doesn't plot anything.
The tinySA Ultra (without +) worked a bit.
The FM band preset show 87.5 till 102 MHz not 108.
Waterfall and panafall doesn't work. Neither could I set a peak marker.
Peak marker menu has same spanish menu's at the bottom.
I didn't have time to check the other menu's this morning.
?
Maybe it's a better idea to update the tinySA-App written by Erik based on the work of Oneofeleven with help from DiSlord and others than to make a new app from scratch.
You are very welcome to do so.

Hi, It connect correctly to my tinySA but nothing to see in the spectrum window Perhaps the protocol is different? Greetings Kees On Tue, Mar 11, 2025 at 9:13?PM Juan M0WWA via <groups=[email protected]> wrote:
