White screen of death?

After installing the last firmware update (86), all I get is a white screen. I have tried both the STM32 Cube and DfuSeDemo programmers. After shorting the VDD and Boot0 pins it goes into dfu mode ok but when I try to program with DfuSeDemo? it completes with no error message but the Cube programmer shows the error below.? I have tried several older versions with no change. The unit was purchased from R&L Electronics so it should be legit.

Can you try:

- USB 2.0 port (not USB 3.0)
- Different USB cable

For me it was the USB cable that was in trouble.
During a nanovna update I received an error and was no longer able to correct it. Only after replacing the USB cable was it possible to resolve.
73!

Well after 3 different computers, 5 different USB ports and 3 different USB cables, no luck.? Anything else to try?

No idea. Suggest you contact your supplier

Have you tried STCube?

Thats the first one I tried. It runs like everything is fine, but come up with an error at the end.

Rick,
You could try an ST-Link (if you have one)
Open the tinySA case,?
Solder a 3 pin header to GND, SWCLK and SWIO and connect these to an ST-Link and use the STLink and CubeProgrammer to update the SW

After several tries I was able to get it going again with the ST-Link. Now I just have to remove the header so it fits back in the case again.

Happy to hear!

This morning I tried to update to the current firmware via USB and got the white screen again. 100% failure rate via USB.? I guess future upgrades will have to be via ST-Link. Kind of a pain to solder the header pins on each time though.

Does communication with tinySA-App work?

The tinySA-App seems to work ok.? So USB comms appear to be working.? Just when uploading firmware it always finishes with an error.
By shortening the St-Link pins I can leave them soldered on.?

If you look at the attached pics it looks like I probably need to get some better quality USB cables. It still won't upload the firmware with the good cable.

?In my last post I should have Identified the 2 pics. They both shw the same signal. the pic on the left was done with a good USB Cable and the other with a not so good one.

It may be possible to update the FW using the tinySA-App (button with the two triangles pointing up). Did you try?
Do not forget to put the tinySA in DFU mode.
Be careful and only try when you must upgrade anyway as when it goes wrong you may have to solder the pins again......
