tinySA software counterfeit? Solved.

开云体育

I live in a detached house on the hill in my town spaced apart from other houses and do not have much interference.
After many tests I realized that the interference is caused only when the computer is on (I tried to turn on only the 2 monitors, but they do not give interference).
If I turn off the computer and the 2 monitors are on, no error, all tests are passed.
If I turn on the computer (ASUS TUF i9-10900x 10 Core 3.70GHz + nvidia 4090 + 64 GB RAM) the self test gives error 3.
I attach the screenshot
This is something to remember if measurements are to be made.
Probably a $33,000 HP spectrum analyzer under the same circumstances would not give error :))

THis is what test 3 should look like
Your levels are all correct except for the spurs,

Spurs ?? Harmonics ??

All the way to the left looks like part of one, then another on screen, then a couple of very little pips then a bigger one, etc.? If they are harmonics would the distance between indicate the fundamental frequency.

Do you have a Uninterruptible backup power supply ?? Can you plug your computer into a more remove outlet in case emissions are conducted ?? Or other peripheral that powers up and down, or goes into standby with your computer being on or off ?

Especially if you use your computer and USB to record data for notes etc, having to turn off the computer is a disadvantage.

Can you test if using a powered USB hub for the tinySA makes a difference?

The RG174 cable supplied with the tinySA is single shielded and has poor immunity to interference, try to keep it away from the switching power supply.

Now that selftest works, you have a portable spectrum analyze with whip antenna. Go hunt for the spur :-)

I only use a low noise linear supply with my TinySA and liteVNA. I power the hub also with the linear supply, with the supply from the computer disabled inside the hub. Moreover, I also only use USB cables with molded ferrite cores on both ends. This keeps the screens free of any external spurs introduced by the USB port.

that's why I use a rigid coax (ex Agilent SA)

It seems permanently resolved now!
Following the advice of the last messages I had also tried with a professional semi-rigid cable, 2 ferrite cores, screen with aluminum. Great tips to use in measurements and I will follow. In this case, however: same error.
But, with the battery fully charged and tinySA connected to a USB power supply, the test is now OK.? I have tried again several times and the tests were always passed.
So it is not an interference error, but an error caused by low charge level.
Thank you all for your valuable advice.
