Erik - thank you for the update. It has improved the spurs as I no longer see the two spurs at 533.725 MHz and 533.775 MHz. There is a new spur at 533.6416 MHz (using precise sweep accuracy, 200 Hz RBW, and 50 kHz span) that is at -72.8 dBm. On quick review I have not seen others. I appreciate your work to make this an even better product!
~Otto

I can't reproduce that spur
Please post a screen capture showing the spur

Is this update specifically for the units with the ZS-407?

It works on all Ultra but there are only changes for the ZS-407

UPDATE - The spur is there when in Spur Removal Off or Auto mode (which I normally use). I played around with it a little more and turned the Spur Removal mode to On and the spur went away! I will consider leaving Spur Removal On by default going forward. Are there any side effects of doing that? I can still post the screen shot if you would like but I guess that solves the issue. Thank you!
~Otto

Please do post the screen shot with the spur.
Leaving spur reduction on will make it more difficult to catch short bursts

OK - understood. I tried twice to download the firmware to the Ultra. It wad successful, but on power cycling the Ultra, all I got was a white screen.

I'll download the bin file again and try it. I've done about 40+ updates with no problem.

Erik - I have attached the screenshot.

Thank you - fortunately most of the activity that I am concerned about tends to be constant transmissions. Sounds like I should leave the Spur Reduction setting to On. Much appreciated!

Thanks-I did remember Larry volunteered and I have talked to him.

Otto,
New FW release
Can you test if the spur is gone?

Erik - using v1.4-196 and the same settings as earlier, the 533 MHz spurs are gone in all three Spur Removal modes! I also did sweeps in 100 MHz spans centered at 450 MHz, 550 MHz, and 650 MHz and did not see any spurs above about -99 dBm. Thank you very much for all of your efforts on this!
~Otto

Hello. First of all, congratulations on a great job with the Tinysa ultra. I have the ZS405 version with firmware 1.4-192 and I would like to discuss a topic with you. The frequency accuracy in RF generator mode. I have checked the output at different frequencies and there are errors which are the following: 1MHz +6.5Hz; 10MHz +3.8Hz; 50MHz -8Hz; 100MHz -23Hz; 200MHz -51.4Hz; 300MHz -81Hz; 500MHz -142Hz; 800MHz -242Hz; 1GHz -350Hz; 2GHz -611Hz; 3GHz -900Hz
I cannot check beyond 3GHz because the Tinysa ultra does not have enough dBm output for my GPS-referenced frequency counter and the preamplifier I have only reaches up to 3GHz.

There are two things determining the frequency accuracy
1: The global CONFIG/EXPERT CONFIG/FREQ CORR. This can be set to correct output versus the internal reference. In your case you have a 350 Hz error at 1 GHz, the FREQ CORR is in PPB so set it to 350 (or -350, I never can remember) and that should correct the systematic error which grows bigger with frequency
2: The frequency resolution. The digital PLL's in the tinySA Ultra have a minimum frequency step of roughly 60 Hz.? This can not be reduced.?

Its a good news!! Thanks.

Thank you very much for your reply. I looked in the PPB menu but I wasn't sure how to enter the calibration value either. Positive or negative. I will try which one works. Congratulations on the great work on the Tinysa. I am aware of the difficulty of a project like Tinysa. I am working on an RF generator project and have achieved a maximum error or frequency accuracy of about 0.8 Hz. It is tremendously difficult. Thanks again

Hi
Question as regards ZS-407
why is it locked, is it? why can't we see how far it can go. we have a record that the first ultra see @20GHz..

"
When you enter the frequency MENU, it says in the lower left corner, choose between 0 and 17.922ghz. And if I enter a number greater than 17.922, it returns me to that number and does not accept a higher number when entering the frequency, so that is its limit.

Tnx

It now goes up to 30,522 and interestingly, it works. I tested it at 24 and it sees a signal, I don't need it any further, but it probably works up to 30. Thanks for the help!
