Waterfall pattern disappears from the TinySA Ultra display screenshot #ultra

I received a TinySA Ultra a few days ago, the hardware version is V0.4.5.1, upgraded to the latest firmware version V1.4-83-gbe4f4d6. After trying the TinySA Ultra for a few days, I gradually became familiar with its functions, although there are some limitations compared to professional instruments, but I can say it is the best pocket spectrum analyzer at this price level.?This problem also occurs when saving screenshots on a computer using tinySA-App v1.1.20.1.
Today, I found that the TinySA Ultra is missing a part of the screenshot of the saved waterfall pattern, and every time I click "STORAGE>SAVE CAPTURE", the saved picture will also be missing the waterfall pattern. I don't know if this problem is a bug in this version of firmware, or if it has always been a problem because I haven't used the previous version of firmware.
In addition, I found a hidden feature, the green "SD" icon in the lower left corner of the display screen is actually a shortcut button for "STORAGE>SAVE CAPTURE". This is not mentioned in the "TinySA Ultra Menu Tree" or the Wiki page.

The editing system of this forum is very strange, originally I just adjusted the order of the four attached pictures, but it was copied again. The sentence "This problem also occurs when saving screenshots on a computer using tinySA-App v1.1.20.1.", added at the end of the second paragraph, was pasted into the first paragraph.

On my tinySA every part is captured (normal capture as well as inverted) - I use??from my?.

Thanks, Martin

Screenshot of TinySA Ultra using NanoVNA-App v1.1.213 tool on a PC with the waterfall pattern intact.

However, I found two other input-related issues:
1, I tested the cable loss using LiteVNA64 and entered this value into "LEVEL>EXT GAIN" for the fourth time.
2, I want to manually enter 40dBm in the "LEVEL>REF LEVEL", the input is not successful, a total of about ten times. After the manual input, REF LEVEL always remain at 0dBm.

Saving screenshots in TinySA Ultra, the waterfall pattern is still incomplete.
?
I hope Erik will also add SD card reader function on TinySA Ultra, like on LiteVNA64, so that the content from SD card can be easily transferred to PC.
I would like to thank Erik for designing such a great device.

I found out why this problem happens: every time you control the TinySA Ultra, whether it's a stylus, a Jog switch or a PC tool, the waterfall map starts scanning all over again.?At this point in the screenshot, the waterfall diagram is of course incomplete.
The PC tool NanoVNA-App works probably because it can't control the TinySA Ultra.

The issues related to the manual input is my mistake, I thought the "m" key in the input panel represents the unit dBm. when I press the enter key instead of the "m" key after entering the number, it works fine.

Are there any updates on this issue?
as I'm a sucker for waterfalls, but any kind of input seems to recycle the waterfall for some reason on TinySA and TinySA Ultra and you can't even align your cursor on the spectrum to get an idea of the frequency a given indication on the waterfall reflect.
The pause sweep, doesn't seem to lock the waterfall.
# is there another feature? that makes the waterfall not disappear, the moment you do anything
# Is there fx newer updates that will sort this, Im still on old fw?

The waterfall is stored only in the display memory are there is insufficient memory in the MCU to store the waterfall.
Anything you do on the display that overlays the waterfall creates a gap in the waterfall.
This is why it has been decided to reset the waterfall after any action that puts something on top of the waterfall

Roger that Erik.
Is it correct that in older TinySA FW-releases, here you could actually work with the waterfall as it was stored to an extent, and you could move cursors on the spectrum to analyze things indicated on the waterfall, but the problem was that it was only around 3/4 of the waterfall that could be stored in memory, as I noticed that on older videos.

- can be seen here on the TinySA and 75% of the waterfall is still present and open for analysis in this YT vid, only the part around the menu recycles...? vid:???
Otherwise, great walkthru video from Kurt Poulsen, going through extensive features.
If that was the case, that 75% was on the table, that would still be preferred as then you could move, signals to that area, but it's old fw so maybe that memory has now been used with new features, etc.

Of course?lack of memory is a balancing act, not least for a product that is constantly being upgraded & spoiled with new features. (love your work)
Would it be possible to implement waterfall on the TinySA PC app, I'm not referring to the TinySA mirror function but the main TinySA PC interface, or perhaps the "TinySA Android app", that I saw there was talk about, some time back, if that Android app is still in the cards for the future.

Just a minor notice [fw 1.4.49] you do in fact have cursor control and the ability to align them as you see fit, alongside an active running waterfall and can adjust your cursors on the spectrum, without recycling the waterfall, just as long as you don't trigger the menu.

Anyone found a workaround to this? The first thing I saved to the SD card was a waterfall plot capture, so the issue as described by the OP jumped out at me.

I wonder if you could put the capture on a timer? So initiate a SD card capture, give it a name and a delay time, and then let the screen fill back up with some waterfall content before writing to disk?

Ah, nevermind, there's a workaround right here!
