The Ultra can do AM modulation with much more interpolation points (up to 128 depending on the modulation frequency) where the Basic uses at most 8 points interpolation

Re: New FW release: USB commands added: menu, text and remark

About the (future) wait command, although I don't find it very useful to use it from USB since programs can use their own wait instructions, I find it very useful in a *.CMD program running from SD_card without computer support ,a wait [n] command that causes the #ultra to wait [n] seconds before reading or executing the next command from the *.CMD file, allowing during this time the #ultra to continue performing its actions, such as making several scans to do CALC maxhold, average..... After this [n] time has elapsed, the following commands in the *.CMD file will be allowed to continue executing.

Looked at the modulation signal on the SA Ultra on my portable scope.

A lot cleaner than the Ultra's little brother

Re: SD card error FW1.4.120 when trying to acces SDcard files on the TinySA Ultra.

An example of the behavior..

but after a few FAT32 formatting and a completely clean card, it does work now.
example?

Something in this file pack below on the card' seems to make my card choke.
as far as I can tell the cfg files are SA4 settings, not sure what the bnd file is or how I got that in the SA4 dir..

Also tried with other cards, than the native Zeenko 32GB card, and manually formatted them in FAT32 as they are SDXC cards, and not SDHC, but that would not fly, even in sub 32GB partition sizes.
Likely down to SDHC vs SDXC cards..
I'm not familiar if you can dress up SDXC cards to fit with SDHC standards, even if you write off the extra size.
But it does work now with the main 32GB incl. card, and I gotta emphasize Im gobsmacked about the extensive features these TinySA's got, not least the SA4/Ultra's MM??

Re: Do I have a Clone?

Eric, what specifically in the screen captures tells you it's a clone?? OOOOps, the answer to that better be in a private email so the cloners / rip-off artists don't get a clue.

I bought mine from R&L Electronics in the states and am very pleased with it.

Re: SD card error FW1.4.120 when trying to acces SDcard files on the TinySA Ultra.

The card is corrupt
With a freshly formatted card inserted while powered down and only removed after power down, do you still get errors?

I bought it here, together with a set of EMC probes:

SD card error FW1.4.120 when trying to acces SDcard files on the TinySA Ultra.

Are getting errors, when trying to do anything with my SD card (SDHC FAT32 native Zeenko 32GB) in the TinySA Ultra unit
It will save a bitmap, but when trying to load or do anything with the SD card content, it gives an error, and the moment after it will claim there are no SD cards present, and I need to flip the switch and start it up again..

Took a look at the computer to see the files on the Zeenko 32GB card, and it had some weird big files (highlighted in green below), and files that Windows was not crazy about deleting, hence FAT32 limitations, so had to format the card, but even after FAT32 format, I still get the error when trying to access files on the SDcard when its in TinySA4, - and then it acts as there is no card present until the unit is closed.
as mentioned I can save a bitmap, though some of them will have a line across..
Are other people able to access their data on their card in the latest Fw120.

SD Card is the native Zeenko 32GB SDHC card, that came bundled.

Have no idea when these files were made..

Line acroos in some screendumps, though not a big problem, as its not that often..

In practice the sig gen function is ore than adequate for daily needs.

RX alignment, testing rig sensitivity where having a calibrated level output is required.

If I needed a super duper ultra clean sig gen for ISO9000, NPL or NIST standards then
either I'd ask my employer to provide one of win the lottery and pay for one.

For ham radio, hobby use it's more than enough, no complaints here.

AMEN, Martin.? You hit the nail on the head.? Good performance costs, even with used "premium" gear.?

The Tiny / Ultra SA is "what it says on the tin" a 'Spectrum Analyser', the signal generator output, although very useful, is a secondary function, and could be considered to be a free gift :-)

Producing a reasonable quality signal generator with a stable, accurate output, is not an easy task, and if you look on-line at the prices of second hand signal generators that are significantly better than the Tiny / Ultra SA, such as those typically made by HP, Agilent, Aeroflex, Marconi or R&S, you will asked to pay ten to twenty times the price, even for something that is relatively old that is likely to be un-calibrated and unreliable.

Sorry, but I think you need to be more realistic in terms of your expectations.

Martin

Hi Andreas,

If you are in Germany then try

In other countries, the local regulator will generally have something similar on their website, but you may have to dig around quite a bit to find it.

The lower frequencies (<30MHz) are easier, as due to propagation signals travel further, and so much more international co-ordination is required.

The ITU is generally the best starting point, but individual countries and world regions will have their own national plans based on the ITU regulations.

For specific information about your own country, you may have to take a look at some of the on-line hobby / scanning / utility monitoring forums, and do your own detective work regarding specific allocations.

I hope this helps.

Martin

QUOTE:?? I would like to have a better quality of?8 point approximation of a sine wave modulation signal.

Goodness sakes !!!!.....? Can't we EVER be thankful for what we have!!????? You can spend over a $1k (used) for something not as good as the TinySA's and the ULTRA.?

A decade ago, a good SA would go for over $5k to start.? A reasonable VNA for well over $10k to $15k - absolute rock bottom.? Neither of these price points are reachable by the average amateur or the schools for any quantity buys for students.? Today we have those wonderful and capable pieces of gear for extremely reasonable prices.? I'm extremely thankful for these "gifts" from those who know how.? I can handle analog, but not today's digital schemes which are required for these instruments.? Thank you, guys and gals ! ! ! ! ?

Sure, I want the technology of electrogravatic movement about the universe (heaven forbid, I mean the OORT cloud and beyond, not just LEO or geosync!!).? I want the ability to visit the regions of the Betty/Barney Hill holographic map shown them onboard an alien craft.? I want to visit the Sirius system.? I want to visit the source of the Dogon knowledge of deep space (well.... WELL beyond our little universe).? Of course all this within an earth month's time.

Be thankful for what we have!!!!!
