TinySASaver: the imaginary (im) values of reading data are always 0
#software
#TinySA-App
Dear all, I am trying to extract data from TinySAsaver using the code from this repository: . I connected my TinySA Ultra to a signal generator set to generate a frequency of 4 GHz. The signal is captured well on the TinySA screen, which shows a peak at 4 GHz. However, when I debug the code to see the value of the readings using TinySAsaver, I noticed that for each data point in Is this expected behavior, or am I doing something wrong in my experiment? It seems strange to me that all of the readings have a 0 value for the imaginary part. I tried searching on this forum but couldn¡¯t find an answer. Thank you for your support. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFurthermore, the implementation of digital filters combined with correction factors can reduce the sweep time by thousands of times. See Blake Peterson Spectrum Analysis Basics Keysight AN150

Re: What is the best way to store the TinySA Ultra when unused but near to radio sources ?
I run my Tiny SA through a charge cycle before storing. It may go 3 months without use. It sits in a drawer next to my Nano VNA with the antenna attached and collapsed.?
So far after 2 years, no problems of any kind.
I may use portables right here at the bench, VHF/UHF under 5 watt. My desk is 6 feet from my HF antenna tuner with random end fed wire antenna.
HF power usually under 100 watts.
When I have use for the Tiny SA or Nano, they are ready to turn on and use.
Cheers. |
Re: Short Vertical (Whip) Antenna Matcher
Thank you. I now have another reference chart to add to my library.? At 80, I need all the library references I can get. Memories not what they use to be. Again, thank you. 73's Clyde KC7BJE? On Tue, Aug 27, 2024, 5:54?PM Geoff Peters - AB6BT via <AB6BT=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: TinySA not connecting to PC over USB
As they say, don't sweat the small stuff. You are probably the only one who will care about what you wrote.

Re: TinySA not connecting to PC over USB
Lol!! Yes my error is recorded for posterity forever Jim!!! Sad to say if you've seen my posts in other forms for amateur radio over the years you've seen me ask plenty of other questions like that .... And when I find them again years later I go and whack my head on the wall and think "oh boy some guy is going to find that and meet me at a ham Fest someday and just stare.... and think to himself oh yeah this is that guy that asked THAT question on a forum...." And he will try hard not to giggle hysterically... Morse Code: The original digital mode. ??? On Mon, Aug 26, 2024, 9:32?PM Jim Shorney via <jimNU0C=[email protected]> wrote:

I store mine in the boxes they came in with no additional concerns.? As an amateur radio operator I have the legal output power on HF, 100 watts on 630-meters, and have as much as 100 watts on 50, 144, and 440 MHz.? No problems. If you are worried about the SMA connector place Male to Female adapter or a 3dB attenuator on the input.

Re: What is the best way to store the TinySA Ultra when unused but near to radio sources ?
OK despite my previous humour post, here's my own reality.
?
I store it without any special precautions.
?
I keep it on the original cardboard box along with the supplied telescopic antenna,
a pair of earbuds so that I can use the demod functions, and a 30db attenuator.
?
I also have a small screen pen inside.
?
The cal output has the yellow cap on the SMA to remind me what port is NOT the
input port.
?
That's it really.
?
I've converted about 6 others radio hams to use them, all very pleased and they come from
professional backgrounds.
?
And as it so happens, I'm talking right now on a telnet session to a ham in North Carolina
that I know who's interested.

Re: What is the best way to store the TinySA Ultra when unused but near to radio sources ?
A permanently attached male-female SMA protects the wear of the connector built into the board. I use it on the CAL output. The RF connector is permanently protected with a DC-BLOCK, which is what I have the most danger in my use

Re: What is the best way to store the TinySA Ultra when unused but near to radio sources ?
If you want obsessive an attenuator has a lot to commend it.? ? But I note they ship across the world with just a plastic cover on them so I guess that's enough to prevent damage on their uncharted journey and so probably a drawer?? |
