Using TinySA with VMA TinySA
Just got a brandnew TinySA from the recommended dealer at Ali Express. I use it with VMA TinySA by Vitor.
When I press start, the spectrum display shows a full sweep. However the TinySA keeps on sweeping with the previously used manual settings. The frequency entry on VMA shows: Start: 0.1 MHz Centre: 174950.1 MHz (??) End: 349.9 MHz the VMA is clearly live but it freezes after a few minutes. Probably some trivial problem that I do not see or am no aware of. Do I need to set the TinySA to USB operation? Any comment/help is much appreciated. thanks Dieter, VK3FFB |

Colin, its an interesting idea. To be investigated in case a substantial HW update is planned, which is not the case at the moment.
Space will be a problem, also power and cost. -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |

I was just wondering if possible a noise source could be produced from the Cal output to connect through a dut to look at its spectrum? - even if a bit rough, just to get an idea regards Colin |
Re: Signal level too low

Well, courier came with the parts today and replaced the RF switch (marked S79 instead of A79).
Everything is working again. Thank you for the guidance, Erik! |
Re: question about cable shipped with TinySA Ultra
Yes, the cable diameter already meets this production tolerance given by them. I'am not read the chinese characters; - here looks missing the jacket, from the dimension list... - amazing cable, - branded is not cheap, even on aliexpress; - in any case, there may be differences ±õ²õ³Ù±¹¨¢²Ô |

Thank you Erik for the quick reply. ?I'm glad it's nothing serious. ?Overall, I am very happy with this analyzer.?

Still hoping to get this bug resolved.
To make this even more confusing to figure out, this error is not a simple percentage applied to all amplitudes.? Referring to the example in my previous post: 545762525.000;?????????? -134.809?????????? (marker shows -117.1)-134.809 is 115.12297181896% of -117.1 -69.185 is 115.12796618631% of -60.094 -135.025 is 115.13045702592% of -117.28 |

We are still tuning the criteria for the flatness.
The important part of the pass band, the left side, is good, the criteria for the right side may be a bit too strict. No need to worry, the next FW version will probably pass test 7. -- For more info on the tinySA go to https://tinysa.org/wiki/ |
Problem selftest 7 TinySA Ultra
#ultra
Hi
I have TinySA ultra but unfortunately it does not pass its selftest 7. You can see that the filter does not have flat characteristics. ?Is this a serious error? ?The device was purchased from the Zenko store. ?What could be the reason and should I complain about the device? Tomasz |
Re: question about cable shipped with TinySA Ultra
- LMR100 cable, and I can measure a diameter of 2.8 mm on it; as I can see on the data sheet...
The blue one is exactly 3 mm in diameter, not 2.65 mm! and looks little bit more flexible like LMR100 SS405 has solid steel inner conductor...??? (I don't know how it can be use some crimp connector on it - a contact problem is expected) The prices on Aliexperss are astounding. ±õ²õ³Ù±¹¨¢²Ô |

Hi,

A lot of information has been shaken out of the bushes in this thread. I have always been a "forty meter ham" and I get dizzy if I exceed 30MHz! Checking harmonic content at *my* frequencies seems rather trivial compared to what these machines and their cables can do. Thank you everybody for the big boost in confidence using these. I have been considering use of the amateur satellites so I might use some of the higher spectrum capabilities here but not even close to the limits. 73, Bill KU8H bark less - wag more On 1/12/23 22:01, Dave Koberstein via groups.io wrote:
This might be a question for Erik. What is the cable manufacturer and model shipped with the TinySA Ultra? I'm interested in the bend radius for purposes of putting the Ultra and various accessories in a box. |
