Re: TinySA ULTRA LEVEL CAL -> Signal Level incorrect #ultra

Can test again with a different coax cable?

Re: Calibration Issues on my new TinySA

Do you have any means to check the level of the calibration signal coming from the HIGH connector?
A oscilloscope perhaps?

TinySA ULTRA LEVEL CAL -> Signal Level incorrect #ultra

zeenko store (aliexpress) Order date: Dec 18, 2022 I have tinysa ULTRA with HW V0.4.5.1.

Apply a new firmware today tinySA4_v1.4-33-ga8bffcf.bin to my TinuSa ULTRA
CONFIG -> MORE -> CLEAR CONFIG
CONFIG -> LEVEL CAL -> RESET CALIBLATION & CALIBLATE 100kHz to 5.34GHz

an error was displayed.
>1T 30.00026MHz -60,9dBm/T
Signal Level incorrect
Check cable between connection connectors
Touch screen to continue

I have reverted to the firmware around the date of purchase. Can I install the latest firmware?
tinySA4_v1.3-556-g9825888.bin is CALIBLATION and SELF TEST OK
tinySA4_v1.3-563-g1da836e.bin is Signal Level incorrect

Re: Calibration Issues on my new TinySA

Thanks for your assistance Eric,
I have used different ?Cables and have the same results.

Re: My tinySA Ultra Signal level Critical #ultra

This very looks very much like a broken cable or trace sowhere.
I suggest you contact you supplier and return the device.

Hi Tom,

I created a PDF and uploaded it together with the ODT to the files section, you can replace it (with the same name) for the next revision.

I did three small changes as described below:

1. The Revision TimeStamp is out of sync:

Revision
TimeStamp: 202212271050

2. Outmask is no command but belongs to the line above ("hop" is Ultra only). Do you also want to document the Ultra command set, there are some more?

3. In version?this text looks strange, maybe a copy/paste from somewhere.

Thanks very much for this method Peer, immediately brought back memories from my first job, we used to have two " wobbulators "
to align central antenna amplifiers and umsetzer's ( frequency converters from uhf to vhf tv channels ) in a large system.
They would check and re-align as necessary these components with the wobbulator.
Did work with them on occasion but did not understand exactly how they worked, looked like magic then, guess i learnt some in the mean time.....
Will try this out soon, all the best and thanks for the diagrams too, makes sense now, inject sweep signal on the input of the device whilst
detecting the output signal with a diode/capacitor test probe or better, great.

Re: My tinySA Ultra Signal level Critical #ultra

I see you have another spectrum analyzer.
Please enable the CAL output (MODE/CALIBRATION OUTPUT/30MHz) and measure the output level of the call output with your other SA

Re: Calibration Issues on my new TinySA

Your unit is genuine.
Could you first do the calibration and then the selftest using a different coax cable to see if this improves the results?

Re: Calibration Issues on my new TinySA

Thanks for the quick response,
In my troubleshooting of the issues i did upgrade the firmware to the latest version without problems.

Here are the results for test 7

Re: Don't get isopropyl alcohol on the TinySA Ultra label!

I put a layer of clear packing tape over the label and trim it to size with a sharp xacto blade. It won't protect from leakage around the edges but it protects the important stuff nicely.

Well, I just removed part of the label ink on the back of my TinySA Ultra while wiping the back with isopropyl alcohol!? The ink used on those labels is NOT permanent ink when it comes in contact with alcohol.? Fortunately I noticed just as I was starting to wipe the right-hand edge where the symbol of a trash can with an X over it and the word China is so none of the critical stuff was removed like the serial number, QR code, etc.

You've been warned! LOL!

Re: Don't get isopropyl alcohol on the TinySA Ultra label!

Whenever I get a new item, I start a directory in my computer for its manual, and anything else important about it. One of the things I do is photo the plates like that and put that photo in the manual directory as well...

Re: TinySA ~data~ Command Dump Content?

Greetings Erik,

Many thanks for finding the time to respond and most of all for what you do!

I finally determined that the 15 measurements displayed were the last 15 of the sweep. It turned out the terminal program I was using apparently could not keep up with the data rate. It only displayed the last 15 measurements. When I switched to Putty I got a dump of 290 measurements thus I now understand exactly what the data dump consists of, (:/)).

Thanks again!
