A simple test would be to the SA down the road a couple of miles. See what difference that makes. The beauty of the tinySA is its portability.

Clear,
You can ignore this error, its a strong transmitter blasting through the shielding of the high input or the shielding of the coax cable.

Thanks for the reply.
This may be exactly what's happening. I am in a very heavy RF environment at the moment when doing this test. Thanks for the info!
Ill attach the photos here.

Sometimes you get an error due to strong nearby transmitters
If this is the only error you get this can often be ignored
Please post a photo of test 6 failing.

Re: Test 6: Above Fail

How is RF getting into the Tinysa if the ports are connected together during the self test? Could it be the USB port?? I would disconnect the USB port when running self test or place? the USB cable with a couple of turns through a type 31 ferrite choke.

Re: New user, some pollite questions #tinysa (SOLVED) #tinysa

OK Erik, Eric, David.....found out that i first have to pause the sweep and uncheck the waterfall on the SA before to attempt a scan in the app and now it's working !? I've Just read the message from Eric again and again and " you can only see the scan on either the tinySA or the app" helped me to solve the problem....Many thanks to all that replied !

Bjern

Bjern,

The image is unreadable - too small. Please use an attachment, full-size
screen image, an not an inline image with your email. You only need the active
program, not the whole desktop. Try Alt-PrtScn rather than PrtScn.

Thanks,
David

Re: New user, some pollite questions #tinysa

Hello Bjern,

I have just been learning this myself.? I found that live scanning in the app works very well, but when you activate the live scan in the app it causes the tinySA to "pause" on its screen.? But it is still scanning.? In other words, you can only see the scan on either the tinySA or the app.? Also, when you change parameters in the app it causes the scan to stop and the display will go wonky, but just start the scan again.? Once the communication is established it is quite solid.? The only time I found the system "crashed" was when I tried to change the RBW in the app.? Then everything hung and I had to re-power the tinySA.

I don't know if these behaviors are "normal" or not, but that is my experience (running the app in a Windows virtual machine).

New user, some pollite questions #tinysa

Hello All,
I'm new to the forum (and the incredible TinySa...) and spend a great part of the day to search for my problem but somehow i'm lost:
I've downloaded the TinySA-app, never updated the firmware, but when in the app i tried to sweep (scan) some band, it freezes the TinySa and nothing appears in the sweep-screen in the app...i have to switch off and on the TinySa to get my sweep again running on the Tiny....
Who can help me out, i'm a complete novice so a step by step instruction would be very helpfull...
Thanks in advance, and forgive my english, (i'm dutch and 66 years old :-) )
Regards,
Bjern Snelders..

Re: tinySA-app.exe saving configuration #tinysa

Geez, people, what is it about online forums that gets everyone so riled up?? I had some specific questions, and pointed out how I'm running the software.? Is it necessary to get into a shouting match?

Maybe the Parallels VM version of Windows is the cause of the GUI strangeness, maybe not. ? I'm not enough of an expert to argue about the differences, but in my experience over years Windows often runs *better* in Parallels than it does on an actual PC--especially back in the Win7 and earlier days.? I prefer the Mac laptop and need Windows for various work-related apps, never had a problem with any of them.

I did discover that the config auto-saves when you quit.? It would be nice if the button actually worked, but not a big deal.? It's a nifty little program, thank you Erik!
