Re: tinysa can't connect or see in com port or usb connections for PC windows 7 #tinysa

I can confirm the USB cable issue, too.

Yesterday, I went to update firmware using the same PC I originally updated FW with right after I got the tinySA.? I couldn't get it to recognize the tinySA and I spent 20 minutes trying to figure it out.? Finally tried a different cable, and everything worked as expected.

Re: tinysa can't connect or see in com port or usb connections for PC windows 7 #tinysa

Both the USB to USB-C adaptor cables I got with my NanoVNA and TinySA were bad. I bought a few adaptor cables from a reputable seller and have had no problem with them.

Re: tinysa can't connect or see in com port or usb connections for PC windows 7 #tinysa

i have TinySA version v-1.3-111-gob2fe54 May 15, 2021.
It operates beautifully and i would like to do the firmware update.? However, I do not see the unit recognized in the DFU program.? I followed the steps as showed in the wiki instructions.
What can I be doing wrong.?? BTW, It works beautifully with a Windows 10 SA program.
Help, please.

This is the tip on my active Capacitive / resistive stylus.? It is a hard tip.? When it is on it will work on my iPad screen and my tinySA.? If it is off it will only work on the tinySA, nanoVNA-F, and IC7300 as a resistive stylus.? I like using it because I only need the one stylus for all the gear I use it on.? I do agree the squishy ball type are not very usable.? The bulb is always to big.? Tried them and hated them.

A lot of the results I got on a quick amazon search looked like they were for the Nintendo 3DS. I saw a 50-pack (not necessarily for the 3DS) for around $10.

The stylus I use is one i found in a drawer here - it came with a resistive touchscreen I ordered off ebay I think.? Mine is roughly the same length as the collapsed antenna that comes with the tinySA, and I like that size since it fits in my custom 3D printed case.

The stylus I use is from an old Garmin iQue GPS device. Small and works perfectly.?

Remember the old PalmPilots? One of those stylus' should work too.

Just food for thought...

What are you using the Mechanical Pencil for on the tinySA?? Does the lead work the same as a capacitive pen on the touch screen?? I never thought to try that. ? I use an iPad tablet capacitive pen for the touch screen. Which also works on my IC73000.

The term MF/HF/VHF is used to distinguish with the UHF or also called "High" input, not for specification of the range

On the TinySA Home Page it states, Quote:?? "Input Step attenuator from 0dB to 31dB for the MF/HF/VHF input"

Since "MF" covers freqs down to 300-kHz, it would be good to know if this useful attenuation feature also covers the lower frequencies, from 300-kHz down to 100-kHz .

If this question is addressed authoritatively??in the manual, or on the TinySA wiki page, kindly let us know the specific web link.? Thank you.

Steve,

The 2dB stage of the attenuator is gone. If you always keep the attenuator on manual and operate it in 4dB steps (including during calibration) you will still get reliable measurements. Otherwise the error is at most 2dB.
Replacing a PE4302 using a hot air station works well. Make sure you do not accidentally knock of some other small components when the PCB is hot and keep the heating time limited as to not overheat the display
